WHEW.....what a BUSY week (and what happened to the weekend) !

I've had a BALL signing up for giveaways at the
One World - One Heart 2009 Blog Event!

I've seen some of the most amazing art and interesting blogs and met some nice bloggers already!
I hope everyone will sign up for some of the drawings! Many of the drawings are open to active bloggers and some are open to everyone!

Well........I have hesitated to post a picture of our new kitchen
because I am not sure the color is 'true' in my photos!
The red is a little more terra cotta than the photos show!
But I want some ideas so here it is.....

BEFORE.......
And AFTER........
Please let me know what you think would look good on top of the cabinets and as a sort of 'theme' for the whole kitchen. I have a few things above some of the cabinets and I would like to find the other things one at a time. I don't want to buy a whole bunch of 'themed' pieces just to 'decorate' it right away.

So I would appreciate your ideas! Some of what you see above the cabinets are an old set of canisters that I received as a gift over 40 years ago! EEEEE!

I have a bird cage and a big old bread bowl, some milk bottles in the carrier....and a bunch of silk begonias.
(but anything can go except the canisters! heehee)

What else do I need? I need some fresh ideas!

I wrote a comment on A Fanciful Twist about the beautiful turquoise bracelet
she is wearing in one of the photos and she wrote me right back!
I dearly LOVE this blog and just had to show her my turquoise ring!
Hope she finds me here!

Now that is a very refreshing colour. It instantly lifted the entire mood, from plain to suddenly very sexy..ok, dont know about sexy in the kitchen hehe..but sure looks great with the white cabinets. Your ring is just wonderful :D

i love the red - makes the kitchen seem much more inviting. i think it's about the same color as my mom's kitchen - very cozy!

You have certainly been busy too. I love the color. It really makes the cabinets come alive. Maybe some iron pieces up top or come cobalt blue for a nice contrast. Even some trailing ivy or hang some art work on the wall. Just some thoughts. Looks like you don't need any help though. It really is a great color. Love it.

Thanks for stopping by and your kind comment.
Oh and I love the ring. Very nice!
See you again soon.
hugs, Celestina Marie

I love it! That color looks great. I think you are doing a wonderful job with decorating the top. Of course you know I think you could never go wrong with a big old china rooster up there! We need to get together soon...do you have any free time? You can email me....
Hugs,
Penny

Your new kitchen color is beautiful! I'm in the midst of getting a new kitchen too -- but yours is farther along than mine. Ideas for your kitchen? How about rope lights along the edge or woven in with swags of silk flowers. Also, I enjoy layers --- how about putting some things on an upturned bowl or a box or column --- higher and lower. And with that color --- berries or more apples --- or chickens and roosters --- or hearts in many styles (wood, ceramic, paper, etc.).

Such fun brainstorming with you. I really like your red color!

Happy decorating!

Love the new color above the cabinets, and as the backsplash. Nothing better than red in a kitchen to drum up the appetite! Lovely, really fantastic! Have fun decorating - I'm sure it'll be great! Great blog, too!

I love your new kitchen color. I wish I had room above my cabinets. Someone else mentioned chickens. I think that I'd look for some 40's-50's chickens or roosters. Some other vintage kitchen collectibles too. I'll be it will be cute. That color is daring!
I'm enjoying visiting your blog too. Thanks so much for stopping by mine!!

You are so brave to paint your kitchen in such a beautiful, bold color. It looks great! What about unwrapping some grapevines and placing small lights through them? This would be in addition to the decorative items you already have....just a thought.

Thanks for your visits to my corner and your sweet comments!

Beautiful bright color. I'm picturing some bright folk art sort of things up there - wooden painted bowls, mexican ceramics. It would go well with the roosters on your canisters. And how about some sort of silk bouquet.
