Getting the wind knocked out of your sails.......

I'm sure everyone knows how that feels.
It doesn't have to be something huge
just something really disappointing.

Since we've been in the process of moving to a smaller
home, I've made trip after trip to Goodwill and donated
to several organizations but.....

I thought some of my better things, personal clothing, etc.
would sell in a nice big consignment store that we have close by.

Lulu's is very convenient AND I've spent lots of money in there
buying household things, clothing, jewelry and purses.

This is getting to be a long story but the gist of it is....
today I bought some things and when I got to the check out
I asked for an inventory sheet.
I told the lady that I had not seen the Dooney and Bourke purse
that I had brought it about a month ago for consignment.
She checked on the computer and this is what it said,
"It was a fake and was donated."

What a shock!
As if hearing they had declared it a fake was not
enough of a shock....it was GONE....it was DONATED!
And they didn't call or email me!

I talked to the owner and realize their policy is valid.
They cannot sell fake items.
And she kept telling me that she was sorry that I had bought a fake.
Well, I am sorry I did, too....
but I am MORE sorry that I don't have it anymore!

So that knocked the wind out of my sails today.
I know I will feel better later but right now
I feel a little like someone ripped me off...
TWICE!

I don't think I have ever used my blog to vent
but so many of you feel like real girlfriends now
and my husband would rather I talk to one of you!

He's good for HUGS...but he's about talked out on this subject!
heeheehee!

Have a great day! I feel better now!

Thanks Doreen! I just feel like it's probably not important enough to mention...compared to war and world hunger...but I did feel sorry for myself and wanted to share my pity party with all of you! And it really DOES help!

Well if that happened to me I would be upset that they didn't have the courtesy to call me. Especially because you were a cuatomer. I guess they don't value their customers?
The first suggestion was what I would do. Shop your troubles away!

Absolutely go buy a new purse! I'm not sure I could ever go back to that place and I'd tell everyone about your experience. Word of mouth is very powerful.

That is so not right...I am sorry this happened to you. I wish I could invite you over for tea --you can vent all you want!

That is really disappointing. Do you remember where you got it in the first place? Because that's who I'd be mad at - they're stealing from D&B and their customers. Sometimes things like this can really get under our skin, can't they?

Ohhh...those big boy hugs really DO feel good! Thanks J & B! Save me some real hugs! Hope to see you both soon! Hugs for mommy and daddy, too!

And thanks so much for your sweet, supportive comments...all of my girlfriends! I still feel weird about it all but my hubby said the next time I am by there, I should just go in and shop and get what I want. Don't let them ruin my shopping. Losing my business would surely not hurt them any. We'll see how I feel in a few days! lol Men have different hormones than us! heehee!

Hi Diane,
Oh this would knock the wind from my sails too. I am so sorry you are having to deal with this. Why would they not call you and give you the option to pick it back up? Probably in the fine print maybe!!

Well tomorrow will be better, but I understand how it can make you feel at the moment till the shock wear off.
Sending a big hug.
Blessings to you,
Celesitna Marie

Hmmmm...I've not shared this before but here's a little secret...I have owned a large consignment store a few years ago...big 6000sq ft. I could say a lot about what this owner did to you but I'll wrap it up in one lump...THAT WAS NOT RIGHT AND NOT GOOD BUSINESS. Shame on them!

I am so sorry for your loss twice over. What a shock that must have been to you. I would say go out and my yourself the real McCoy but then who would benifit by that? Not you, as you would have spent way too much on a nice purse that you could have gotten second hand at your favorite second hand store. At least you would know first hand that is was a knock off of the real McCoy and you wouldn't be getting ripped off again.
What a bummer for you. I don't take dissapointments well either.

I can't believe they didn't contact you in any way. They could certainly handle a situation like that with a little more communication and grace! Ugh!

I have really enjoyed reading your comments! It's amazing at how much alike we all feel about things like this. I'm so happy to have some kindred spirits here! And now that I'm older...I don't worry about things as much or for as long! I let them go...and you've helped! Thanks!

When I visited Shanghai, there was a huge outdoor market area called "The Copy Market". It was interesting to see 1st, 2nd and 3rd quality knockoffs (I could not tell the difference between the 1st and the real thing but some of the 3rds were obvious). One friend purchased a wide variety of products - some for gag gifts and some for resale. This was ironic because a few days later he had an outcry that counterfiet pharmaceuticals were showing up in the US...

I went on a Dooney and Bourke site and read about things you can look for to see if your handbag is authentic...of course, since the handbag in question is LONG gone ..I'll never know for sure. When can you go to Shanghai again, dc?
