Christmas Cookie Recipe Exchange

Cookie Swap ButtonCopy of Christmas Cookie Bake

The day I’ve been looking forward to has arrived!

The annual cookie recipe exchange! Thanks to Rose Haven for hosting this fun event! I can remember having lots of ladies over to exchange cookies every year when my kids were young and we were active in our church. Everyone brought their favorite cookies and recipe and we bagged up cookies to give to the elderly and those in need at church. And of course we got to sample the goodies and have all the wonderful new recipes to try! What great memories!

I have made pretty Christmas cookies but even when I make special cookies, I make a double batch of Snickerdoodles using my mother in law’s recipe. Everyone likes these BEST! My hubby has a birthday coming up next week so  these are especially for him!

“Snickerdoodles”

1 1/2 cup sugar
1 cup shortening ( NO substitute, Crisco is best )
2 eggs
2 3/4 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp cream of tartar

2 Tbsp cinnamon
2 Tbsp sugar

Mix first seven ingredients. Form into 1 - 1 1/2 inch balls and roll into cinnamon and sugar and lightly mash down with 2 fingers.

Bake at 350 on ungreased cookie sheet for 12 minutes.

Whoopsie....looks like he’s already found them!

Enjoy your day! Take time to BAKE!!!

And visit the other ladies that are taking part in the recipe exchange today!

This is almost exactly the recipe I use for snickerdoodles. They are so delicious. I agree, shortening is the only way to go.

Getting out the oven mitts and sugar and cinnamon and butter and don't forget the sprinkles. I have fond memories of baking up a storm with my daughter. I'm making sugar cookies this week after work. I wrapped today and bathed the doggies and finished all my cards. It's beginning to feel alot like Christmas! Happy upcoming bday to your honey!
