"Wednesday Wee Ones" Barbies and Bikes

I've been sewing and even attempting to 'design' Barbie clothes!

DSCN5890

Which sounds like fun but is really very frustrating! I didn't make this dress...but I could have!

DSCN5892

I did make this dress and handbag....

DSCN5893

It's hard to make things to fit her! lol I have so many ideas but some of them are ending up on other dolls!

 DSCN5895

This little girl got Barbie's baby doll pajamas! heehee!

DSCN5882

It's a good thing I have lots of dolls...all different sizes!

DSCN5883

I am loving pink and green right now! Another dress I made...

DSCN5896

My hubby asked me what I wanted for Mother's Day and I said....a new Barbie!

So he bought me two!

The dresses are so cute. I love pink and green, too.

When my daughter was little my mom made her tons of clothes for Barbie. She would buy fancy dresses at the thrift shop and cut them up for the fabric. My daughter had the best dressed Barbie around. I wish I still had those dresses.

Barbie!!!!I love them! I used to have Francie, the "cousin" of Barbie, and it was my fave doll ever for many years! I remember she could "bend" her legs and her hair was "magic", you could style them because they had a metal wire inside her hair..Oh, lovely old times! it was 1972...sweet memories...
Love darling,
Annalisa

Oh my--I was too old when Barbie came out. My dolls--from years before Barbie's time--all were babies who could drink and wet-- although the water always came out of their necks. hee hee I am of the Tiny Tears and Betsy Wetsy generation and never owned a Barbie.

I love the outfits you are making. I love pink and green, but I also am on a violet/purple/lavender kick along with a turquoise one this season.

I love the photo that shows you riding your bike right on to my computer desk. What fun.

I made Barbie clothes for my girls when they were young, and you are right, it is hard! Such tiny sleeves to turn, tiny hems, etc... I love what you made! So spring/summery! Fantastic! Fave spring colors right now...tough one...I love colors! I really love the pink and green, too. Remember the sweeper cover Lace made for me in the pink and green? I haven't been able to let it touch the floor! HA! I Don't want it to get dirty! I also love peach, pink, orange and yellow. Besides my standard purple and brown(not springy)

Some of my best memories of Christmas are the Barbie clothes my Aunt made for me. She sewed some and knitted others. I particularly remember a red knitted ice skating dress and hat that both had white trim around them.

My favorite spring colors are yellow and spring green.

Oh, that last photo is perfection!!! You made me chuckle when you asked your husband for a new Barbie. Whenever I go into NYC I always go to FAO Schwartz. They have the most amazing Barbie display. Your doll clothes are spectacular, but I can imagine working that small could be frustrating.

Cute outfits you're making! My mom made outfits for my Ginny dolls. Pre-Barbie..I'm old!
Really love your bike.
Happy sewing and happy riding, oh and have a happy day!

You and Barbie have gone on a bike ride I see. I want to follow you with my favorite spring color (at least for this year) and it's the lime green and orange. Hits the happy spot in me for sure!
Today I talked about Barbie and how she is always happy...no wonder, you are designing her clothes and making her look so Groovy!

I love the dresses that you have made for you Barbies, it is amazing.. as they must be so fiddly and the stitching so finicky, you have done such a good job, and a handbag too! I love the colours and fabrics too! You are so right... those Barbies are so cute, such lovely faces! I know Valerie! There is one thing my Mum always taught me... there is always someone who is worse of than you, someone who is having a worse day, eating less, having less or no money, getting called worse names, etc. etc.... This equals so much to be grateful for, and this is a reason why, no matter what life throws at me, I can always bring to mid these wise words, and pull myself back up! WOnderful and thoughtful, and wise post! suzie xxx

This brings back childhood memories. My mother made all my Barbie clothes and now I've passed them down to my daughter who wants to make doll clothes too.

I remember making Barbie clothes for my girls when they were little and I think they were amongst the hardest things I have ever had to sew. Fun... but so little.
