Just a little tweaking...

It's January! I LOVE new beginnings and getting things clean and in order! I love walking through my house and seeing what little things I can change to make a difference! And I've been going crazy these past few days! Yesterday I was up and down on a ladder changing things on top of the refrigerator! heehee! Today I'm in my closet organizing! lol

Awhile back I showed this pretty little flower arrangement that I put together using things I bought at Michael's. I saw one all made up....

but I knew I could make one that I would like even better!

And I love red roses. The only problem was....

DSCN9953

it looked too small on the center of my large Thomasville dresser! I even asked in a post what everyone thought! (and got a few honest answers!)

So I discussed it with my hubby (he really does have great style!) and off we went to Michael's, Hobby Lobby and Pier 1. My hubby chose the perfect vase....and even found the ivy at Michael's. I walked around and spotted the lavender flowers to add a splash of color!

So now I think it's more balanced....

What do you think? I'm sure I'll move some things around another day!

Here's a close up of the small Bible nearby (it's over 100 years old) ....

some dried roses and 2 more old Bibles at the end of the dresser...

And the small arrangement? It's on the piano....

at least for now!

Do you like to move things from one room to another?

Have you been 'spring cleaning' in January?

I'm joining Kim at Savvy Southern Style  for the Boring to Better party!

That really made quite a difference. I don't seem to have the vision when it comes to decorating and I thought the little one looked great too. Looks good.

Much better! I climbed up and down on a ladder yesterday vacuuming the tops of my kitchen cabinets. And my back will tell you I shouldn't have done it period!

I think everything is lovely!!!

I do love removing all the Christmas clutter and freshing up for the New Year...my home seems naked right now but I love it that way for the time being.

Hugs my friend and happy reorganizing. oxxo

Very nice substitution. Yes, I move things from room to room often. Shopping from home is so much easier on my current budget. The smaller vase looks darling on the piano as well.

Hi Diane,

I have actually taken a break from cleaning and taking all the Christmas decorations down.
It is always a good time to make changes and clean around the house.
Love your floral arrangements and the old bibles.
Happy week

Hugs

My favorite item, though, is the old Bible!

Hi Diane,

Everything is really lovely. The lavender arrangement is to die for!

My philosophy is simple and I have a design backgroud.....if you really love something, use it. It matters little to the heart whether it goes or not.

Such lovely pictures!

Hugs, Barb ♥

Oh such a very pretty change. I also love the dried roses in the bowl. I recently dried some roses and have been contemplating what to do with them.

I was going to suggest that you prop the roses up a bit on books - you're one step ahead of me! :-)

I love both arrangements, but I'm most impressed that your hubby helped you with them. Kudos to the man in your life!

Everything looks beautiful, Diane! The new vase is perfect and I like the flower arrangement in it very much. What a treasure your 100 year old bible is!

I am still taking down Christmas from my house ..perhaps afterward I'll have the energy to change things around a little. Still trying to recouperate from the holidays!

You're right, the new arrangement is much better in proportion and looks very pretty. Yes, yes & yes to all your questions regarding changing, organizing, just plain revamping for the new year. It always feels so great!

Your larger arrangement looks nice where you have it and the smaller one on the piano is perfect there.

Love your changes. But I am jealous.

I cannot change anything on top of my refrigerator. That is one of the many places that Hunter (my cat) sleeps. Because of him, I have removed many items from tops of cabinets too.
