"Birds on the Gulf Coast" Mosaic Monday

It's always a thrill to see the huge herons on the Gulf coast!

BDGulf-1

We called this Heron, Grandpa Heron! Isn't he shaggy?

My hubby took this photo!

(I mean the heron not my hubby! heehee!)

This is the same Heron...

but he is 'at alert' when someone came close!

I'm linking with Mary at  the dear little red house

for Mosaic Monday! Enjoy your Monday!

And a special thanks to everyone that sent me

a birthday greeting! I sure feel special!  rose

Out our window today, we've been watching Tufted Titmouses fly back and forth to the feeders. It would be so much fun to see those big guys. Summer can't come soon enough!

What beautiful pictures! I've never seen a heron like that. We have a lot of great blues and white herons, but nothing quite that dramatic. Thanks for sharing.

Great pics!! We always look for a blue heron that lives down on the river near here...but he is not as pretty as this shaggy fellow.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful photos.

That's a great shot from your hubby...not the heron... of the heron. He must have gotten very close to shaggy Grandpa to get such terrific shots.

Beautiful shots of those herons. We have them here along with the sand hill cranes. I never seem to have my camera with me when one is close enough to photograph.

Hi Diane, just gorgeous. We have these herons on our lake. They often stand on the end of our dock or walk across the backyard. They are really something.

Hope your Monday is blessed!

I love watching birds. When I grew up in Michigan we had blue herons on our lake...then when I moved to Naples, Fl we saw them there. It is amazing to me that they can live in the north and south!

Penny

Gorgeous bird...very intriguing to watch. Are you doing WIWW tomorrow? Not sure if I can make it...I will have to get up early and cleaned up and get snapping some pics if I do. My pet party was huge, and I have been so busy enjoying that..

How fun to see these beautiful birds.

Fig jam is one of my favorites and we never have it. Figs don't grow well out here in West Texas and they are so expensive at the market.
Wish I had some right this minute...with lemon peel. :))

Love that you named this little guy. The pictures are fab!!!

Nice to see sunshine that "feels" so warm. Nice capturel

That's a great photo. I often see Herons when I run by a creek in my area. Don't they look prehistoric?

Donna said...

Those herons are amazing! I've never seen one like the shaggy one before, how funny! We have Sandhill cranes here in Michigan, and I was lucky enough to see a huge bunch of them migrating this fall, very cool!
