Can $19.99 make YOU happy?

It sure made me happy today!

DSCN3478

We are still waiting to have shelves built in our library area so my hubby had the idea that he would put together some cheap shelves so that I could unpack some of my books!

DSCN3464

I knew just which ones I would start with....

DSCN3466

some of my old books that I’ve collected over the years....

DSCN3468

Poetry books, Shakespeare, Dickens, Edgar Allen Poe...

DSCN3473

it was amazing just opening boxes to see what was inside!

DSCN3480

I didn’t have room to put Jane Austen and some of my other favorite vintage books...

DSCN3475

but I am happy to have these out to enjoy!

DSCN3482

This only emptied 3 boxes....we have about 50 more!

But most of the rest are not antique books.

DSCN3494

So I’m a happy blogger this afternoon!

DSCN3483

I hope you’ve enjoyed your day as much as I have!

DSCN3477

And finally a spot to put my Grandmother’s old lamp!

I still need a better shade...wonder if I can find one for $19.99?

I’m joining Kim at Savvy Southern for WUW !!!

I think it’s WOW when you can be THIS happy

with less than twenty dollars! Thanks Hubby!  heart

Your bookcase is looking so wonderfully vintage with your sweet books and treasures. Yes, sometimes 19.99 can make me happy; sometimes .99 can make me happy.

Sweet! I hope I'm not repeating myself, but when I gave away 90% of my books to the Salvation Army last year, I kept my vintage one. Not nearly as impressive as your collection, but near and dear. I love perusing old bookstores, brushing aside the dust and seeing what's underneath.

Now I do most of my collecting online where I've found the most fascinating items in digital format. Those that are long out of print, but some kind person has scanned them to share with others. I can spend hours and hours looking through them. I should do a post on that one day! Thanks for sparking the idea! I'm happy and it didn't even cost me $19.99!

How perfect to have your grandmother's lamp to go with your vintage books.

I just bought a vintage bookcase at an estate sale for 30.00. I've already filled it too!! The vintage books were the first to be unpacked. I just love the bindings and the old paper!

Hi Diane...

How very sweet of your hubby...to put together the book shelves so that you could begin to unpack your books! My friend, you have a fabulous collection of olden books...they are sooo beautiful! Why don't they make pretty book covers any more? The way they used to print and emboss these old books is simply fabulous!!! I love your "Wonderful Stories of Jesus" book! The cover alone is a piece of art! Ohhh my...you really do have a fabulous collection, dear friend! I could just "dig in" and be sooo very happy for months! Hehe! I also enjoyed seeing your Grandmother's beautiful lamp...sooo very pretty! Thanks for sharing your lovely olden books collection with us! What a treat!!!

Warmest spring wishes,
Chari

Hi there!
I have a few old books myself. I love how you have put other things to display along side your books. I do that as well....little momentos...keepsakes. It is like Christmas opening boxes sometimes! Have a great day and enjoy your vintage books! The bookcase looks great! xoxo Kim

I love old books also..they just add some sort of charm to a room. I wish I had more room to put more bookcases in my house.
My newest adventure is printing (painting) my own fabric...it has become and addiction. I posted some in both of my blogs so hop on over when you have a few min and let me know what you think of them:)

Diane!!!! I love your collection of vintage books! If I may suggest please take more pictures of each and blog about them. The classic copy of The Tale of Peter Rabbit is a valuable piece. You are so great for having been able to preserve them.

I am also a fan of old books. Your bookcase looks great with all of your special books and the display with your extra touches make it even better. I am sure if you keep looking you'll find just the right lampshade for just the right price.
