Let there be LIGHT!

I’m enjoying the ‘condo life’ and we’re getting ready for company in a couple of days! So life is exciting right now!

DSCN5071

I love my condo..

DSCN0822

it feels a little like ‘playing house’ to come here! And now that I’ve adjusted, the mountain air is so fresh that it seems to carry it’s own energy!

DSCN0814

Two ph0tos can show the whole living room! heehee!

DSCN0813

I was happy to see one of my favorite blogs with a new post this morning! Do you visit  Button Willow Cottage? She doesn’t have comments turned on so it’s all about reading and relaxing when you visit her!

Let there be light? We have a small laundry room and when my hubby switched on the nightlight to brighten the windowless room….

DSCN5067

IT BLEW UP! POW!

DSCN5068

Pieces of glass fell into the open laundry hamper so it was a challenge to find it all. And of course he turned it on at 11 PM when we were going to bed. So I hope the neighbors weren’t disturbed by night time vacuuming. They probably thought I was a serious housekeeper!

Do you use nightlights? Have you ever had this happen?

The road less traveled!

We love to drive through the back roads of Florida, Georgia and South Carolina when we travel back to the mountains of North Carolina.

DSCN4972

You never know what you might see…

DSCN4984

and the pace is slower and less stressful than the interstate!

And the timing works out perfectly to have dinner at Whiteford’s in Clinton, SC. ( I was so hungry I forgot to take a photo!)

They have a ‘blue plate’ special and you can choose your meat and veggies. We ALWAYS get a piece of fried chicken and whatever sides we’re hungry for at the time. I had pinto beans and potato salad with my dinner.

I did take a photo of the Pecan Co. where we stop to get fresh shelled pecans!

DSCN4970

It was sad to see the terrible smoke in some parts of Georgia.

DSCN4951

I don’t know how these people can stay in their homes when the smoke is so dense…

DSCN4952

but some of the small towns did look almost deserted.

DSCN4962

This is the camera in Folkston, Ga. that I captured the photo of my hubby when he made this trip awhile back….

DSCN4960

see my posts HERE and HERE !

DSCN4961

Our hearts go out to all of those that are suffering! We only drove through a couple of spots….

DSCN4965

most of the trip was bright and sunny!

DSCN4967

Time to get on the interstate for the last leg of the trip….

DSCN4992

I see Mountains ahead….

DSCN4993

It’s wonderful to be back…

DSCN4995

and I’m feeling much better today!

Thanks for all of the sweet comments. I knew you would all know what ‘draggy’ feels like!

Are you making plans for the holiday weekend? We have company coming! YAY!!!

A period of adjustment!

It’s beautiful here in Western NC! So green and lush!

We took these photos at some of our property yesterday

and the flowers make a pretty mosaic!

01June

Please don’t think I’ve dropped off the face of the earth!

I’m still trying to get my home in order, run errands and get adjusted to the elevation change. I feel a bit ‘draggy’!

It always happens so I guess it’s normal! I’m sure I am normal! lol

And I’m on a different computer! So I feel like I really did wake up in a new world! A downsized home…and a computer with a slower connection! Oh my!

I’m joining Mary at the dear little red house

for Mosaic Monday!

Have you ever felt ‘draggy’?

A Change of View!

This is what I woke up to this morning!

DSCN5007

It still thrills me to look out at the Blue Ridge Mountains

DSCN5009

and see Mt. Pisgah….well unless it’s in the clouds!

DSCN5010

Quite a different view than the bright sunshine of Florida!

DSCN4900

I always enjoy getting back to our condo, unpacking and getting organized.

A trip to the mall? Really?

You never know what you will see when

you get out into this great big old world!

DSCN4873

We parked in a little side parking lot that has big shade trees...

DSCN4859

got out and saw something ‘across the way’!

DSCN4859

And the closer I got..

DSCN4861

the more frantic this little guy was!

And then he fell down on his back...

DSCN4862

and couldn’t get up!

DSCN4864

My hubby saved the day by picking him up

and returning him to the nest!

DSCN4865

But was Mama grateful? NOT exactly!

 DSCN4866

OK! We’re GOING!

 DSCN4867

Just a ‘day at the mall’ here in the

beautiful state of Florida! heehee!

(a peek at the downy nest!)

DSCN4868

Poor, poor tiny baby!
I'm so glad that you were there!
Poor baby took a tumble,
what a little scare!
So glad that he was rescued,
and you saw him from the trees,
Momma duck was mad for sure,
But this filled my heart with glee!

Vintage Bag Redo!

I love bags...and I love vintage!

I bought this handmade bag at the Thrift Store for a quarter!

DSCN4816

But it was dirty and ugly! (no pics...just take my word for it!)

So I cut out the ugly lining...

DSCN4818

soaked and washed the crocheted bag in Lavender

detergent and made a new liner out of soft muslin!

I even added some vintage crocheted lace for the pocket.

DSCN4817

Added a little tab of velcro and now I can enjoy it!

I found both of these at the Hospice Thrift store this week...

DSCN4819

look at the detail of this little evening bag!

(Made in India)

DSCN4820

And this bag is made in Japan! (needs a handle)

DSCN4822

I’m joining Vintage Thingy Thursday

and Time Travel Thursday

and Thrifty Thursday

and Thrifty Things Friday!

Happy Thrifting AND collecting!
