A Fitness Program that you’ll FALL in LOVE with!

Have you tried the Zumba Fitness program?

I mentioned watching the ladies dance at the Concert in Fletcher Park a couple of weeks ago!

Yes…I joined them HERE!

Well, I started going to the Zumba Fitness classes and it is just the MOST FUN I have had in a long time! Ready to go to Danceland with me?

All of my regular readers know I lost the weight I needed to lose this past year and now I need to ‘tone up’! Can you think of a better way than dancing?

DSCN6542

Everyone is friendly…

The instructor is the BEST! Thanks Kathy!

How can BOOKS be this exciting?

My favorite find at a Thrift store are old children’s books or readers! I found these two books at Goodwill for $1.50 each! SWOON!!!

DSCN6502

I love the books I grew up with in the ‘50s and ‘60s but this Elson reader was a GREAT find! Printed in 1920 (a little before my time! lol) for the Sixth Grade. I think they could use it for a high school textbook now! It is quite advanced for what we consider the 6th grade level of reading now!

And how about this sweet Health book!

DSCN6504

Little girls loved to draw pretty ladies even back then! I don’t think that takes away from the book at all….

DSCN6505

it makes my imagination go to the little girl that used this book and drew pictures during class!

DSCN6507

There are several poems and stories on the founding of America which fits in nicely with the book I’m reading! It was printed in 1920 as well.

DSCN6508

Thanks to my friend ‘Freckled Hen’ for a wonderful book recommendation! Oliver Wiswell by Kenneth Roberts has over 800 pages but I can not put it down! (this is a library book)DSCN6509

I tucked my ‘new’ books into a new bookcase!

But I’ll show you more of that in another post!

DSCN6487

I’m joining Vintage Thingie Thursday

and Time Travel Thursday

and Thrifty Thursday

AND Thrifty Things Friday!

I’m even linking with Nifty Thrifty Tuesday!

Have you found anything special lately to add to one of your collections?

ENJOY YOUR DAY!

I’m off to get my hair cut! I wonder if she can cut it longer! heehee!

All of my blog buddies know how much I love walking at the Park but the weekends at the Park have been great this summer!

DSCN6422

You can’t beat this spectacular sunset either!

DSCN6424

End of Summer Dreamin’!

When the weather cools here in the mountains my thoughts turn to Florida!

Ship-1

I found this ship at a Thrift store this past week and I put some of the photos of the Gulf Coast of Florida with it for my Mosaic this week!

We’ll be here in the mountains for a little while longer so I’ll enjoy the nice cool weather and the beautiful view of the mountains!

DSCN6362

What are you dreaming of now? Do you have special plans for the last few weeks of summer?

What We’re Reading #7 “Hearts on a String”

Don’t you LOVE finding a new author that’s written about a dozen books?

How exciting when you read the first book and like it to know you can find MORE!

Well…I had my hopes up and I was disappointed!

I read “Hearts on a String” and thoroughly enjoyed it!

51yaU3n0q0L._BO2,204,203,200_PIsitb-sticker-arrow-click,TopRight,35,-76_AA300_SH20_OU01_

It was a light read with lots of good female characters! Just what I was in the mood to read this summer! Women forging friendships that will last a lifetime! I loved the subject and since it was set in Florida…that made it even better!

I searched at my library and started requesting ALL of The books written by Kris Radish. Some I read…or skimmed! Some I didn’t even get past the first few pages. There are SO many good books to read that I don’t waste my time on those I don’t enjoy! And I would not recommend any of her other books. (SORRY)

If you’ve read this author…I would love to know what you think!

Thanks Ricki Jill for this fun party!

And THANKS Fletcher library for finding all the books I request…every week!

Go HERE for more links to ‘What We’re Reading’!

What are you reading this month?

Happy Reading!

Picnik, turkeys and giveaways!

I’m trying to do a quick post! Is that even POSSIBLE for me? heehee!

My blog girlfriend, Molly at A Bit O’ Shine has some of her gorgeous photos with ‘space textures’ found on Picnik right now! So I rushed over and worked on one of my nighttime photos! I LOVE it…don’t you?

(this is for those that use Picasa for their photos)

DSCN6159-1

We take walks in the evenings around our condo! It’s not really a ‘city’ condo! We have a wooded area on both sides and behind us!

DSCN5885

I’ve been seeing a wild turkey roosting up in an old pine tree for awhile now!

DSCN5886

But I got really excited a few nights ago when I saw TWO! (you can see the tail of one above and to the right of the one)

DSCN6384

Please don’t forget to ENTER the giveaways HERE!!! If you’ve signed up to enter with me already….just go to Sew We Quilt EVERY Monday, Wednesday and Friday to enter!

You can still send me your info and start entering TODAY! There will be giveaways for 10 more weeks! And guess what! One of our ‘team members’ Shirley C. WON this week!

How exciting! CONGRATS Shirley and THANKS!

I won wantotbe quilter

THANKS Madame Samm and all of the great sponsors that are taking part in this HUGE campaign! There are guest bloggers with lots of tutorials every day! Today the guest is Nancy Zieman from TVs ‘Sewing with Nancy’!

Enjoy your day! Do you picnic…or PICNIK? I do both!

Do you feel like dancing?

If you had been at Fletcher Park this past weekend listening

to Dashboard Blue

DSCN6313

you would have DANCED! The music was AWESOME!

It made me want to come home and start a new playlist on my IPOD! Lots of my favorite songs such as…’Play that Funky Music’, ‘Under the boardwalk’, ‘Brown Eyed Girl’, ‘Ain’t no Sunshine’, and Margaritaville!

Song list HERE!!!

DSCN6307

And it was a gorgeous evening…

DSCN6314

with lots of people enjoying their night out!

(there’s a very handsome man in this pic…can you find him?)

DSCN6312

Even a ‘pet’ pony!

DSCN6316

Little children are always fun to watch!

DSCN6322

But who is this?

DSCN6328

This is the Zumba to the Oldies group of ladies that meet right here in Fletcher every week at the Danceland ballroom! And they told me….come on…when Mustang Sally starts, come on up and dance with us!

DSCN6332

And you know me….I DID! heehee! (I need to take lessons…obviously…I look like I am doing my ‘own’ dance!)

DSCN6345

Do you love to dance, too? Enjoy your week!

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance…

DANCE!!!

A Peanut Butter and Jelly kind of trip!

We drove up to some land we own in the mountains of NC near the Tennessee border…

DSCN6216

and yes, we took peanut butter and jelly sandwiches…and some delicious ripe plums!

BluffAug1

The next day I stopped at Goodwill and

found this book entitled ‘Dining Out’ by Mary Engelbreit.

Here’s what she said in the introduction….

DSCN6295

Want to know my favorite shortcut to making a good meal great? Just take it outdoors. Even an ordinary peanut butter and jelly sandwich seems like something special if you enjoy it with a view of a lovely tree…”

DSCN6183

I couldn’t help but smile…

DSCN6298

and then make a Mosaic for Mosaic Monday!

I’m joining Mary at the dear little red house!

DSCN6239

I hope you will, too!

DSCN6233

When was the last time you packed peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and went for a picnic? Nothing else beats it!
