Lavender Dream surprises!

The best part of having a blog is making friends.

I chose the name of my blog because I love the scent of lavender. I also love all of the shades of purple and lavender. The Dream part of my name? I remember my dreams every morning….every morning. I write some of them down but most of the time I just share them with my hubby. My Dad used to say, if you tell your dream before you eat breakfast it will come true. So…some of them I tell as soon as I wake up….a few I never repeat! Most of the time my dreams are good!

I have a Lavender Dreamer button…thanks to hubby!

She surprised me with this gift and made me very happy! She wrote me a beautiful letter, too.

Isn’t she perfect?

Do you see that she’s included a sweet bear and some little extras for me to decorate with?

What a darling blessing she is! You have a lot of sweet friends, Diane. It's lovely to see. Did your cousin embroider "Lavender Dreams" on the quilt? What a nice touch!

Beautiful colors... Lilacs were my first love. I had a room as a child that my mother painted and decorated in those colors. Such soothing shades. :)

It is always fascinating to hear the story behind blog titles. Especially those with such an interesting origin like yours. Thanks for sharing. :)

I had my bedroom painted a lavender/lilac color when I was a teen. My mom hated it, but I loved it. :)

I'm so glad you loved the soap, Diane. I just burned a candle in that lavender dreams scent. I need to make some more soap and candles, huh?

Anyway, thanks for sharing all your pretty lavender dreams and goodies with us. You're making me fall in love with lavender all over again. :)

Cheers,
Tracy Screaming Sardine

When I was a little girl, I had to have a lavender bedroom. My Dad went the paint store & back then there was no pre made cards to chose from, so he took in a belt from one of my dresses & they matched it up. I felt like a princess. Now not much of my house is lavender...husband likes mute bland colors.....so I spice it up with pillows & of course all my dolls.

I used to where lavender and pink all the time, I was such a tomboy but for some reason those colors where my thing. :) I love your gifts, they are so pretty and so thoughtful. Blogland is just amazing. :)
I love what you said about Dreams too, I might have to try that. :)

I love lavender too, I have linen sprays and all sorts of items. I try to visit a certain lavender farm each year, but now they have an online store. Lavender Annie is adorable. xo

All your lavendar things remind me of my piano teacher's daughter. This was many years ago, but the little girl loved purple. Any shade was fine with her. Back then, the stores didn't carry purple like they do now. Yet everything she owned was purple.

One Christmas she asked for a play kitchen and of course wanted that purple too. Her mom couldn't find one and had to talk her into wanting a yellow kitchen to match Mommy's.

Your lavender things are very pretty, but I love the quilt! Enjoy your new pretties.

What nice things!! And your button is beautiful. I'd love to see the lavender fields in England when they're in full bloom! 'Field of Dreams Lavender' is the name of one of my handcrafted soaps!

On a SAD lavender note, my cat uses my lavender and oregano plants as her salad bar! At least I got lavender from that plant to dry for my soaps before I brought it in for the winter.

I sometimes wake up laughing from my dreams! I am always surprised at the number of people that tell me they don't remember their dreams, I feel sorry for them - mine are usually a great source of entertainment. Your quilt is so pretty, I know you will treasure it always. Happy 2012! ~Ann

What great stuff! I always remember my dreams too, and I know the story about them coming true, so i always eat a berry or sip some juice before i talk about them! (not that they are bad, i just don't want to take a chance on the parts i don't remember!)

I grew up believing the same as you. I can never remember my dreams unless they are really crazy. Love all your great gifts! I especially love the quilt, but Annie is really cute too.

Hi, Diane

Let me tell you, I really live Lavanda, its color, its scent. Lavanda fields are very beautiful.
It's one of my favorite plants.

I found this Poem:

Lavender

Author: Alfred Noyes

Lavender, lavender
That makes your linen sweet;
The hawker brings his basket
Down the sooty street:
The dirty doors and pavements
Are simmering in the heat:
He brings a dream to London,
And drags his weary feet.

Lavender, lavender,
From where the bee hums,
To the loud roar of London,
With purple dreams he comes,
From ragged lanes of wild-flowers
To ragged London slums,
With a basket full of lavender
And purple dreams he comes.

Is it nought to you that hear him?
With the old strange cry
The weary hawker passes,
And some will come and buy,
And some will let him pass away
And only heave a sigh,
But most will neither heed nor hear
When dreams go by.

_Lavender, lavender!
His songs were fair and sweet,
He brought us harvests out of heaven,
Full sheaves of radiant wheat;
He brought us keys to Paradise,
And hawked them thro' the street;
He brought his dreams to London,
And dragged his weary feet._

Lavender, lavender!
He is gone. The sunset glows;
But through the brain of London
The mystic fragrance flows.
Each foggy cell remembers,
Each ragged alley knows,
The land he left behind him.
The land to which he goes.

With Love,

Caty

What a nice post, Diane. I liked the part about your dreams.And I liked the photos of the quilt. Purple, lavender, mauve, whatever name you call it, it is my favourite colour. I am a quilter as well, but I have to say that I do not often see a quilt in purples that catches my fancy. Yours is one of the prettiest I have seen in a long time. Your sister made great fabric choices. Wanda in Edmonton
