DSCN0461

I love looking up at the sky!

DSCN0462

I don’t know how many photos I take of clouds!

DSCN0464

But this week we had a storm roll through

one late afternoon and the clouds boiled up!

DSCN0465

And look at this beautiful tree we spotted in our neighborhood.

DSCN0381

I think it’s a Kumquat tree! (the fruit was small and still a little sour!)

A quick peek at my sofa with the Prim Quilt on the back!

DSCN0342

We don’t really need quilts on the sofa here in Florida

DSCN0344

but I think it makes it look cozy in the lanai!

Good morning from rain washed Washington.

One of the things I've always enjoyed about your blog Diane is those precious cloud patterns.

Of all things, my daughter is thinking of moving to North Carolina next year. I may get to meet you yet! Do you still live in both states?

Keep in touch my long time friend and happy thoughts are sent your way!

Happy Valentine wishes too!

That is such a beautiful and cheering quilt! Would make any cloudy day seem brighter. And yes, I love taking photos of clouds too. They fascinate me.

My father said you are supposed to eat the skin of the Kumquat not the flesh. My mother used to make marmalade out of them.~Ames

Those clouds look humbling! Your quilt on the lanai looks inviting and the perfect place to be when a storm comes rolling through! Have a nice weekend!

Florida clouds are always fascinating to me too. One of my neighbors told me years ago tht she thought the sky scenery here was actually prettier than most of the landscapes.

Kumquats are oblong in shape. The fruit on that tree looks and sounds like the sour tangerine tree we used to have. I thinkit must have been from the sour root stock that is so often used for the grafting citrus trees here in Florida. Our tree was very hardy and rarely affected by our infrequent freezes. It produced a bumper crop of tangerines about every other year. It used to hang over our fence. We used to laugh to ourselves when we would be sitting in the house and listening to newcomers in the neighborhood walking down the street. They would spy all the tangerines hanging over the fencde and say I bet they wouldn't mind if we took some they have so many. we didn't mind at all, less for us to clean up. We knew they were so sour and would never sweeten up. It was a pretty tree though. Unfortunately, the state cut it down due to the citrus canker that was spread thoughout the state after the 2004 hurricane season.

Every time I hear kumquats I remember a wonderful play I saw several times, including in its original venue - the Sullivan Street playhouse in Greenwich Village - The Fantastiks! Never tasted the fruit however. Your photos are wonderful and make me want to get out and about with my camera.

Hi, Diane:
What a cute post title. What is a kumquat? Your skies in FL must be
really something to see, especially
when you get some wild storms.
Pretty.

Susan

That sky is fantastic. I also love to take photos of the sky and clouds so I understand the fascination.
Your quilts are beautiful and perfect for Valentine's Day!
Take care and enjoy the weekend.

I'm a sky lover and a quilt lover. I had a good laugh when I saw your word, "quowd." I thought, Hmmmm ... a new Scrabble word with Q. :)

Gorgeous photos! I love clouds, too, and I think Florida has some of the most unique. The quilt is just "adowable!"

I love your cloud photos, as well! We obviously can't grow kumquats here in Southeast Missouri (the "Bootheel") ~ though as warm as this winter has been, we might! ~ but we DID grow a little tree from seed a couple of years ago ~ it wasn't tough like the other little citrus seedlings my children and I have planted over the years, though, and was just kind of pitiful ~ :)
Nice to "meet" you!

One can never have enough pictures of the clouds!! The sky is wondrous in all its different states of dress :P

I wonder sometimes what it must of looked like to the natives centuries ago....without the obstructions of buildings, lights and pollution....breathtaking I bet!!

Kumquats are so cute!

I love looking up at a stormy sky, there's just something fascinating about the clouds rolling in all dark and ferocious looking. I missed this last one, I must have been sleeping :(

The prim quilt is so bright and pretty with the heart pillow! I just want to come over and chat over a cup of coffee...

The clouds are really dark--looks like a real cloud burst on the horizon!

Speaking of giveaways--did I win yours????? Did I???? Say I did!!!!

I love clouds and am always looking up in the sky. I take pictures but they sure don't turn out as your beautiful pictures today! I need to practice I guess.

Your quilt looks very pretty on the back of your sofa.

Happy weekend.

I used to love to eat ripe kumquats right off the tree when we had our place in Bradenton. I also would grind them up and make a Kumquat Cake, reminded me a lot of carrot cake with a slight citrus flavour. Yummy! Wanda in Edmonton

Love the pictures of the clouds. I have always been fascinated by them too.
I believe that could be a sour orange tree. Kumquats are not much bigger than the end of a mans thumb. The inside is sour and the skin is sweet.
