Books and Movies and a ‘Fungus among us’!

I’ve read the BEST book!

It’s sweet…it’s funny….it’s delightful!

I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith.

This is one that you want to read the next book and find out what happens to the characters! But there wasn’t a ‘follow up’ book It was written in 1948 and has had a recent printing and even a movie based on the novel. This author also wrote a book that you may be more familiar with…101 Dalmations.

We finally found Downton Abbey at the library and we just started Sesson 2 last night! Oh my! We LOVE it! It’s been so much fun to see episodes of Season 1 every night this week!

Vicki has Downton Abbey wallpaper in every size on her blog HERE !

Books (and one movie) I bought at a book sale last weekend…

And we live in Florida, the Sunshine state! Even our fungus is sunshiny! heehee!

I walked outside in my robe this morning to get this photo! (I hope you appreciate it!)

Thanks for all of the sweet comments on my wristlets and bunnies! I’m still sewing!

Visit Diane’s Dream Designs and

get some bunny love today! (while supplies last!)

Have you read any good books lately? Any movies you would recommend for the weekend?

Warm fuzzy HUGS from Florida!

I thought you were going to talk about mold spores in old books - I WISH they looked like that bright yellow fun guy in your pic, then I'd know how NOT to inhale them! Have a great weekend.

Good morning. I just got hooked on Downton Abbey this year. I had not seen season 1 so I purchased it from Amazon. I cannot wait to see all of season 2. And sure cannot wait for the new season to begin. The book sounds good too. Think I will look for it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

I read that book a couple of years ago! There was a movie made from it, but don't remember where I saw it, must have rented it. Love Downton Abbey and can't wait for Season 3! Ann

I am sorry to say I never watched one episode of Downtown Abby . I guess I was never home or didn't know what evening it was on or what station

I will check at the library here for a CD of the series

Hi Miss Lavender Dreams,

Yup, there is "fungus among us" here too - their names, LuLu & Flora. Giggle.

Happy St. Patrick's Day.

I have not seen any of the Downtown Abbey series, but I know a lot of folks are hooked. May have to give in. I just don't do much tv, so it's hard for me to keep up with series. Have a fabulous weekend and Happy St. Patty's too!

Downtown Abby is a favorite with my husband and myself. I can't wait for next year's adventures.

Have a lovely weekend!

Downton Abbey was great! They are filming season 3. You might try Larkrise to Candleford if you haven't seen that series yet -- it's like cosy-ing up in front of a fireplace with a cup of hot cocoa. Cranford and Return to Cranford are wonderful, too!.

I read "I Capture the Castle" last year and enjoyed it greatly. (I read Dodie Smith's 101 Dalmations when I was around 9 yrs old, BEFORE the Disney movie came out -- the movie was so bleh compared to the book!)

Of course you love it! Everyone does. (Don't they?)

Thank you for sharing that book. I really want to read it. I have read the "real" 101 Dalmatians so I'm sure that I'd love that one.

I do appreciate your walking outside in your bathrobe to get that photo. Hope that your neighbors do as well. ;>

I'm so glad to hear that the book I Capture the Castle is good. I saw the movie and wasn't that impressed :( I'll give the book a shot one day!

I really liked The Lake House - it's one of those I could watch again and again. So different.

love, love, love Downton Abbey!

Love your book recommendations! I know they are always books I will enjoy. I've been reading a lot, my husband bought a huge lot of old books at an estate auction. They are a little musty but still good reading!

I read so much but will add this book to my list. I've got to find the first season of Downtown Abbey and get on the bandwagon! Yes lovely fungus? lol...hugs, Linda

You are right! Even your fungus is sunshiny! Is that something that is invasive and causes problems or just some benign pretty thing?

I am a Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum Series fan and ever since seeing her movie "One for the money" my hubbs has read one of her books that I have in my Kindle library and really enjoyed it--I would hear him snickering and then outright laughing as he read! Too funny!

Thanks for sharing your book review Diane. It's always nice to get a recommendation, just haven't had time to read anything lately.
Too funny to see a picture of your shiny fungus...and it's yellow too.

The book looks like a great read! I'm a Downton Abbey groupie! LOL!!! Love it! Only in FL could you find sunny fungus!

Happy St. Paddy's Day!

Thanks for the recommendations! I hadn't even heard of Downton Abbey until Vee said something about it a few months ago. I guess I am living under a rock or something, LOL! I might spring for the DVD sets if I could watch a bit of it and be sure that I liked it. I loved the King's Speech movie. Is it a lot like that?

On a better note, I received my bags and I'm in LOVE with them and my adorable little bunnies that were added!!! Thank you Diane! Your workmanship is exquisite!!!

Looks like you'll be really busy, so I hope you won't forget to blog! Seems everyone on blogland is talking about Downtown Abbey, so I think I need to get with it to find out what the hype is about! Enjoy your weekend with your new books and the DVD. Have a great weekend my friend!

Hi Diane,
Sounds like you are having lots of fun. I have not seen the Downtown Abbey series, but it sounds like a good one to start.
Yellow fungus, who knew? Well you are in the sunshine state.
Your books look interesting. As for movies, I saw The Iron Lady and it was great. One can see why Meryl Streep got the oscar for her role as Margaret Thatcher.

Going to visit your shop now. Have a great weekend. It's about 80 and everything is in bloom.
Hugs, Celestina Marie
