Some Library Love

It’s so nice to be close to the library.

Here are some of the books and movies I’ve checked out lately

DSCN1538

and I have some more to pick up today!

The movies were all good. ‘I Capture the Castle’ was excellent...not as good as the book but I find that to be true most of the time. My hubby chose this ‘Planet of the Apes’ and it was better than some of the others. And my friend, Donna from Cottage Days and Journeys mentioned ‘The King’s Speech’ and it was very good!

I took part in the Month of Letters and still have a few more letters and cards to send out (please don’t give up on me, my friends!) and met Mary Robinette Kowal. She came up with this wonderful idea. You can visit her HERE!

Her book Shades of Milk and Honey was very good!

I am reading Gilead by Marilynne Robinson now. It’s a book to savor and take your time reading....an amazing book...

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize a few years ago.

We’ve had some COLD windy weather but it is improving today! (this photo was taken last night)

Have you read a good book lately or watched a movie you would recommend?

The last photo is beautiful. I haven't spent much time lately reading however Sunday my grandson dropped off two books he thought I'd like from a series he's been reading. The series is 'Game of Thornes' and is written by George R.R. Martin. 'The King's Speech' is an excellent movie.
Have a wonderful day.

Ahh..a good book, a good movie..so wonderful! Recently I took my little ones to see The Titanic in 3-D..they loved it! And, since my eldest is near 13, we had to go see The Hunger Games. She loved it.., so, that is my world these days enjoying what they enjoy. Thank you for popping by..so nice to see your kind visit!

I just read "Chosen by a Horse" by Susan Richards and it was wonderful. It was the first book of hers that I read but I really enjoyed it.

I've been much too busy lately for reading....and apparently commenting....sorry it's been a while since I've made the rounds! Looks like you've been keeping busy yourself with these great movie and book choices. Many of them I haven't seen, so I'll have to check them out.

As I expected, we've gotten the cooler weather lately too. I thought of you yesterday as I put on my big sweather here at the end of April. I guess that means if you want to wear your coat again, I can't say anything! Hee hee!

Hope you're having a great day my friend!

Hi Diane,
I love the library, too. It is within a mile of my house, so I am there almost every day. I loved The King's Speech. I am a mystery lover, so I read tons of those.
Hugs,
Laura

I love the library. I mostly go there to pick up things I've borrowed through Inter-library Loan.

Love the movie King's Speech! And now I've got to find the other one, 'I Capture the Castle.'

If you like Disney movies, Tangled was really cute.

I seldom remember the names of the movies. If I do I'll let you know!

I love public libraries and am fortunate to have several branches in my city. Every child should have a library card starting from a young age!

You made me feel much better Diane! I though I am the only one still checking out the real books from the library...:)

I am trying to catch up on some classics I missed do I just read Edith Wharton's House of Mirth where no mirth is to be found. She was brilliant for her time and it was a best seller back in the day. Very Downton Abbey like if you will. On a very serious, sad, and yet faith inspiring note Bonhoeffer By Eric Metaxas changed me. Bonhoeffer saw Hitler as the evil he was and never backed down and died for his faith. Could I live like that? That is the question.

I love living close to a library, too. When my daughter was small, we spent many hours there each week. Thanks for reminding me I'm not too old to go by myself. :) I do love their offerings.

Diane, this has not been a great year for me and books *Sadface* I need to find some good ones! Last year was a great reading year for me, but not this one :(

I am more likely to watch a movie than read a book these days. I really need to correct that. Loved hearing your recommendations.

I love the Library, too! Such an excellent resource for affordable movies and free entertainment.
Alas, the only time I seem to be able to fit reading into my schedule is our annual camping trip...when there is no computer, art supplies or laundry staring me in the face...haha!

Thank you for the recommendations :)

I usually read those "chick lit" written by Lauren Weisberger, Cececlia Ahern and Sophie Kinsella. I noticed the movie "The King's Speech" that's actually one of my favorites name mate!

So sad to say, I have not. I'm in the middle of reading a book, but no time right now to read and as you know I don't like tv or the movies out right now, but hope to see War horse soon, I hear it's goo, but I hope it's not too depressing.... I worry. Hugs sweetie

Hi Diane, I am always busy sewing, stitching, gardening, blogging, or eating. lol! So I don't read near as much as I use to. I did read the first book of the Hunger Games before going to the movie. When I first heard what it was about I thought, How morbid. Actually, I really enjoyed the book and movie.

Jann

Oh how I wish I lived in walking distance to our library, I would probably be a lot more fit! I highly recommend the book The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls, and Shanghai Girls, (I forget the author).

I love our library. We go there often and I usually have to put the alarm on my phone or I will just forget all about what time it is!

Oh, I am so glad that you liked the King's Speech. There are some naughty words in it, but it was a delightful true story. I have made a note to read "I Capture the Castle" later on this summer. I now have a backlog of over a dozen books! It is nice that you have a library handy to you. Ours nearest one is about 5-6 miles away. I am usually sticking with the e-books, so I don't visit it often.

And I wanted to thank you for plugging my blog!!! I saw where I was getting more traffic the past couple of days, and wondered what was going on, LOL.

Actually yesterday I went to a movie Premiere. It was a movie that is coming out called "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" the whole movie takes place in India with some elderly folks, it is funny, and enlightening and I encourage anyone to go see it. :) I liked some of your ideas on good reads and movies too..:) The Kings Speech was a great one!

I'm going to try to find "Capture the Castle". (We liked The King's Speech....). I have my name in for Adriani Trigliani's new book, The Shoemaker's Wife. I've read all of hers and look forward to this one. (She doesn't write fast enough for me!

I also finished reading My Connemara. After visiting Carl Sandburg's home in North Carolina recently (Connemara), I couldn't wait to read this book by his daughter. I'm not sure it is a "stand-alone" book, but SO interesting after visiting Connemara myself....

The Kings Speech is excellent. We did netflix for awhile and recently cancelled our subscription after we realized our library had great movies for free. I just finished The Hunger Games series. I didn't think I would like it but I wanted to give it a try since it has been the rage. It was amazing. I finished all 3 books in no time.

I love going to the library, and I haven't lately. The videos section in our library gave me a headache because of its display. I actually have to do acrobatic moves just to be able to read the title!
