Some ‘Mountain’ thrifting!

You all KNOW I’m going to do a little thrifting while I’m here! (I didn’t BUY this clock of course, it’s where we bought gas and I thought it looked neat!)

DSCN1608

I went to Goodwill...NADA! Across the street...nothing! (I know this photo has lines in it but I thought the church steeple would look familiar)

And then to my favorite consignment shop, Lulu’s! They have a lot of name brand items and it is always named the Best Consignment shop in Asheville every year! I found this really cute Vera Bradley handbag....I know I MAKE handbags....but oh, how I love to BUY them, too! Would you believe it was only $7? Well...not exactly...but that’s what I paid! I had left a few items on consignment last Fall so I had her check and see if I had any credit and I DID! I only owed $7.

DSCN1650

OK....with that in mind, what else could I find for $7?

Hubby had an errand to run and I tagged along to go to another consignment shop.

DSCN1645

Don’t you love it when they wrap things and put them in a beautiful bag with pretty tissue paper and ribbon? I found 2 things on the clearance rack...super marked down!

PMDSCN1646

This IZOD shirt that is a pale green (it was hard to get it to look pale green in the photo)

DSCN1648

and this Talbots sweater ‘twin set’ in my favorite color, blue!

DSCN1649

$7 for BOTH...everything in the BAG!

DSCN1699

You can see the consignment prices had originally totaled $61.93 (and I NEEDED the sweater)! lol

I’m joining Diann at The Thrifty Groove !

Do you ever notice that you spend the same amount sometimes when you shop? I was obviously having a $7 day! I should have kept going! lol

7 is a lucky number. The pretty bag and wrapping probably cost more:-) Hope you're having a fun time. I haven't been to Asheville in years, and never did get to the thrift shops. Enjoy!

Beautiful FUN Bargains!!! I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE your new blue&white sweater set! I would have had THAT SET in my basket too! It has such a gorgeous print...
I (((LOVE)))consignment stores. My VERY, VERY, VERY favorite places. I've ALWAYS shopped them, EVER since I was in high school(MANY,MANY Moon ago)... Yes I "DO" love the way they make our purchases look SO PRETTY wrapped up in colorful tissue in PRETTY shopping bags, then tied with PRETTY bows. I think the whole atmosphere of the consignment shops is like GOING BACK IN TIME to the way the Ladies felt special in the little shops of DOWNTOWN.
Thank you for sharing your treasure hunt!
Big Hugs,
Donna

Hi there,
I visited the Salvation Army in my town yesterday. My sister ALWAYS finds great things at the Thrift Shops. I am not as good at spotting things but am inspired by some of the fabulous jewelry she has found at some thifts and am trying to visit them from time to time. Yesterday, I found a Tommy Bahama black and white dress with a halter top. Perfect for my upcoming trip to the beach! It was BRAND NEW! Tags still on! The price tag said $125 and I got it for $14. I was a little afraid to buys it even at $14.00 because I was not sure it would fit but.....bought it, got home and tried it on and it fits beautifully! I was excited! You did some great shopping on your excursion!!! Have a great weekend. I am busy today packing for Florida and my dress will be the first to go in there! xoxo Kim

Just as a matter of interest. By law, here in Wales the shops aren't allowed to put things in bags. You either have to bring your own or buy them. I begrudge paying for a bag......

It's very clever of them to make it feel like the item is new...you get the thrill of shopping, and a discount.

It seems so much more thrilling to pick up a deal at a thrift or consignment shop than at the most exclusive boutique, don't you think?

Don't you just love finding a good deal? And yes, numbers that are the same at just about every store. You have to wonder why that is? At least I do!!! lol
