When it’s HOT outside...READ!

I love to read and this summer I’ve been in the mood for mysteries. Right now I am reading books by Nancy Atherton.

They are light reads...fun mysteries, that you can pick up at the library....perfect for long summer days.

We saw “One for the Money” this weekend. It’s based on the first book by Janet Evanovich. I love her books and read this one awhile back. The movie was good and stayed very close to the book...which I like! I fell in love with Stephanie Plum...the main character. She is played by Katherine Heigl and she is absolutely perfect for the role! (and yes, that’s her 4th book under the dvd)

I found this Bible at a book sale and it’s one I’ve never seen. It’s an Olive Pell Bible. Olive Pell was an artist and a poet. She published this Bible on her own and in the forward she explains, “In it the magnificent Elizabethan English of the King James Version has not been tampered with in any way. Not one word has been changed. It has only been reduced in bulk to it’s purest spiritual essence.”

It’s interesting and I will enjoy reading it for awhile. I’ll keep my complete Bible handy, too so I can look up scriptures she’s left out. But I like it and I’m glad to have a copy of it. (published in 1952)

I always like to have 2 or 3 books going at the same time. I even found a Brad Thor book at the thrift store! I can’t wait to read it, too!

What are you reading right now?

I'm reading a new book on Apologetics that I won on a blog. It's quick and easy.

I'd like to find some fiction that's not all fluff yet not too deep either. Something thought-provoking...

I LOVE to read and when it's this hot I read a lot!! I'm reading a Michael Connelly book right now. I have read all the Stephanie Plum books and saw the movie, it was OK but not great to me.

You have a good reading list! I've never seen that Bible before, it looks lovely. I just ordered the Holman HCSB Version and Apologetic study guide to go with it. It is very easy to understand. And you can't go wrong with Aunt Dimity!
Also some old Ellis Peters paperbacks came in the mail.
Happy Reading!

I love Janet Evanovich. I still want to see that movie. I seem to be reading work related materials lately on flipping instruction. Nothing fun. I miss my light reading. The University is gearing up for fall semester. I'm not ready for summer to end, but I'll gladly take cooler temps.

Sad to say, I have not picked up a book since blogging. Plenty of mags here and there but no books. Looks like you have some good reads there.

Just finished the 3rd book in Nora Robert's Bride Quartet. Yes, I'm a sappy romantic and just love the way she writes! That Bible looks quite interesting. Couldn't imagine having 3 of them going on at one time!!

I am like you, I have a few books on the go all the time. Sometimes one isn't worth committing the time to read it, and I will move to the next one.

So you liked the movie, loved the series, read all of them, will have to check out the movie.

I'm rereading The Path, by Laurie Beth Jones because I'm leading a book study on it for a church group. It's about finding your mission statement for work and life. There are a few things about the book I'm not crazy about, but mostly it's fantastic at helping you hone in on what your mission in life is. We only have one life and it's short. Gotta figure out the reason God has us here and get busy! Other than that, blogs of all kinds keep me busy, including two of my own I keep up. I'd like to drop everything and just read a good story for a while for sure! Thanks so much for stopping in and leaving me such a great note at Quirky Vistas. I'm now following you because we Florida girls have to stick together! By the way, what's for dinner? I love Chocolate Mousse...just so you know. Feel free to have that for dessert! Ha!

I'm actually reading an old Victorian novel by Wilkie Collins called A Woman in White and really loving it. On the side there is always a motivational book ... this one, The Power of Focus by Jack Canfield.

And ... I may be the last person on the planet to have just finished the Hunger Games trilogy.

Thanks for asking,
Mary
