Autumn Foliage in the Mountains of North Carolina

I drove over to the Blue Ridge Mall yesterday (for a Craft show) and stopped in a parking lot on the way to take these photos!

We are very close to Peak colors here in the mountains!

(No editing on the top two)

I just had to take one photo to Picmonkey to play with it. Here’s the original…

PMcolorDSCN5596

I made a pencil sketch in Picassa…

and then I did a Lomo effect in Picmonkey.

I’m joining Beverly for Autumn Flowers and Foliage on Pink Saturday.

Do you have pretty maple trees in your neighborhood?

Some. Not as lovely as this. Wowzer. I'd have stopped to take pictures, too. And to think that you're still heading for Peak. We are in peak in the western foothills and are looking forward to Past Peak. ☺

Your photos are lovely. There are a variety of maples called Manitoba Maples where we are but their leaves are tiny. It would be so lovely to see the beautiful oak and maple leaves I remember. Have a good weekend!

There aren't many maples around where we live, sad to say. They sure are glorious! We just got back from our little jaunt to the Brevard area. We even popped up to Asheville one day to see the crafts fair (we got free tickets, LOL). The colors were at their peak in the Pisgah National Forest. We timed it just right! And where exactly are you at in NC? I wish I had thought about giving you a shout-out!

Love the photos.. You are a couple weeks behind us on our fall colors...yesterday's rain took many of the leaves right off the trees. Enjoy your beautiful time of the year. I like the way you did those pictures. Smiles, Susie

We have three huge maples in our yard, but due to our whacky summer (very dry) the leaves are falling (what a mess!), but with little color.I can only hope that since we were deprived of a beautiful fall that our winter will be kind to us:-))

Our property has many maples..we have a golden carpet of leaves outside our windows.

Lovely leaves. Such color. We Did get further on the Blue Ridge Parkway Wednesday to Mt. Mitchell. Gorgeous color, best around 4000 ft or so. Mt Mitchell was past prime. This time we had no fog and the sun was glorious. We left Asheville on Thursday, before the Craft Fair, unfortunately. Still got to go downtown, to the RivernArts District and to the Folk Arts Center. All of it was WOW. We had a great time.

No maple trees here, I do hope we get to the blueridge parkway this year. We have a boating event in Ft. Myers Nov.9th, as much as i enjoy these events with friends, I would rather be in N.C. When do you think the leaves will peak there?

Hi Diane, thank you for your sweet comment and birthday wishes. Our Gators won their game today so my birthday has been lots of fun.

Your photos are great and I too love to use different applications to change my photos. Fall in the mountains where we live is almost peak right now. However, for the next two weeks we will be in Fl. Missing the peak color I guess.

Happy Pink Saturday.

No pretty oaks in my neighborhood. We do have scrub oaks (black jack?) and they just turn yucky brown but often don't fall from the trees until February. They don't look so nice.

LOVE LOVE LOVE your photos. Beautiful.

Beautiful fall photos ~ we had a wicked wind storm here last week and almost all of the leaves are off the treas now. They were pretty reds, oranges and yellows, but now they are on the ground. I love fall ;-)

Hello there namemate! We don't have that much trees here because I live in a crowded and fast paced life in the city. Seeing such beautiful pictures in your posts really make me feel more refreshed and relaxed. Wishing you a great week ahead!

PS I love your new blog header.
