A Love Story Untold

We’ll have to use our imagination for this love story.

BookcaseIMG_1329

A few years ago, I found this old bottle at a Thrift Store and when I took it to the check out, the lady said, “Oh how sad. Someone ruined this pretty bottle with tape.”

BottleIMG_1331

She actually started pulling at the tape when I said, “Just leave it on…I’ll look at it later.”

It’s old and faded and I can only make out a few words even with a magnifying glass and good light.

BottleCropIMG_1332

What words can I see? Valentine Day and Feb. is all I can make out on one side.

On the other side, Be Mine…I think and the word love. Possibly two names with a plus symbol between them. But the tape has changed the ink and time has faded it all.

So what is the ‘love story’?

We’ll have to use our imaginations.

I hope it’s as wonderful as mine.

I found the other old bottle in the ocean!

Are they old and ruined?

I don’t think so!!!

“Happy Valentine’s Day”

PS I just entered my mind. Why not create a linky party and let each participant write a short story about the bottle ;) The story you love the most will win a giveaway then hehe

You are a dear and your bottle is made all the more precious by the old tape and the message: someone loved someone a lot to go through the trouble...perhaps a child gifting a mother...who knows, but it is certainly very sweet. Thank you for preserving it!

I often feel that old keepsakes such as your bottle are filled with the spirit of the past. It's almost a tangible weight...like Time has imprinted the items with the emotions of their previous owners. I guess that's why we say..."If only that old bottle could talk..."
