*Colors*

I found a cute little bear at the Thrift store a few days ago and it made me start thinking about ‘color’. It was the darkest purple I have ever seen and it stood out….and I liked it.

I looked around at the colors I surround myself with and wondered how they make me feel.

ColorsMosaic

I did a google search for color, color and moods, color psychology, color in decorating, the color wheel and the colors of the sea. It was so interesting. But I decided not to add a lot of links. It’s a fun subject to research. Have you spent much time thinking about color and how it affects your moods?

color_wheel

I know that every morning I dress according to my mood. You might think I mean…if I feel a little down, I wear something dull, but I actually do just the opposite. If I don’t feel my best or a little ‘moody’, I wear something pretty. I think wearing my favorite colors helps to brighten my mood. I wear a lot of turquoise, all shades of blue (except Navy), pinks and reds, bright whites and the blackest of blacks….oh and lime green! haha! Colors I NEVER wear are beige or off white, olive green or orange…brown and yellow rarely.

Are there colors you prefer to wear? Are there some you avoid?

I’m a cheerful person most of the time.

Do you think it’s the lime green? lol

I’m joining Beautiful Sunday,

Sunny Simple Sunday,

Gratitude Sunday,

Mosaic Monday.

PS The Black and White objects in my mosaic are rocks we found on the beach. My hubby found the black one and I found the white one. It reminded me of the movie, “Something’s Gotta Give”

A very interesting subject and one I haven't thought a lot about.
I suppose it will come as no surprise that I wear a fair amount of blue :)and recently I've begun wearing teal as I heard that it brings out the blue in our eyes. I always like black and white together. I agree with the colors that never get worn, except I do wear brown in the fall/winter.

I had a boss who once told me that colors were so closely related to the transformations we were going through in our lives. It made perfect sense.

i look best in darker colors over pastels. since i have a lighter skin. i remember being told never to wear RED when you go for an interview because the boss or interviewer will not hire you because it makes you mean, easy to anger, you won't get along with other employees & all that jazz. i love red. had a lady say to me once when i wore it - i never would have thought you would wear that color? thought it was odd??! but whatever makes you happy, right?! Yellow is my happy color. I don't wear it often except for my yellow socks that I wear when my spirits need a boost. Yellow makes any day a sunny one. Love the purple bear. He's a cutie. HUgs

I dress for comfort; I think because of the lupus I don't like anything snug-feeling. I'm in awe of the colors in nature, but find my selections of clothing colors represent my nature--quiet. XOXO

It is interesting, isn't it? I wear a lot of green because I have very green eyes. I don't do well in blues at all and I wear a lot of black and then punch it up with a kick of color here and there. I also can wear a brighter red but not the duller colors of it. I do wear ivory but not bright white. I had my "colors" done a long time ago (remember that old Color Me Beautiful) and whenever I wear the colors that were on that chart I get compliments. lol
I do love turquoise, too- xo Diana

I DO pay attention to what I feel like around colors! For some reason I'm always drawn to the color blue in decorating. And I swoon over the soothing feeling I get when I see a room in all white. But I know I wouldn't be able to live with just white for very long. I'd soon be adding a pop of color here and there and soon it would be colorful again! In my clothes, I'm a bit boring and stick with the "season"
that looks best on me. Have a colorful week! sandy ; )

Great post! It is interesting that colors you wear can match you mood. I tend to wear a lot of neutral colors, but I do love various shades of blue too. Lovely mosaic, have a happy week!

Interesting post. Thanks for sharing this info on color. I wear a lot of black with other colors. Most of the time you'll find me in jeans though. '-)

I love color. I don't wear a lot of color. I can't wear my favorite color because as much as I love it, it does not like me. You sound as if you've hit the secret by dressing in happier colors if you're feeling blue. Very pretty and colorful collage!

I used to work in a big box home store a long time ago. There was a regular customer who always talked about color and moods and Feng Shui decorating. Once I mentioned in passing that I have trouble sleeping, so she asked what color my bedroom was. It was yellow at the time, which the woman swore was the reason I couldn't sleep. Something about yellow being an "up" color. She told me to paint the room blue or gray.

Who knows her theories were true. Eventually I did paint the room blue to go with a bedspread, but my sleeping habits didn't improve. In fact, the blue was such a drab color in the room, I painted it cream months later.

I'm going to have to scroll down to see your other posts I've missed. Sorry I haven't been around as much lately, but I have an overuse injury in my hand and not able to type as much as normal.

Have a great week Diane!

You probably remember a few (several?) years back when being a summer, winter, etc. person was all the rage? The season was picked according to your skin tone. I don't remember which season I belonged to but I do know I can't wear gray. The older I get it seems like I favor jewel tones most and any shade of blue. I do wear a lot of black pullovers and jeans around the house. Fun post!

I love color, and I love color in my wardrobe. I never wear yellow either. It makes me look sallow. I don't wear a lot of red either...mostly around the holidays.

I did that color chart some time back and so I do mostly autumn colors-I say mostly because orange and olives are still my favorites. Neat post that made me think about it-NOW my brain is awake ;-)

Love the mosaic...what a great idea. And really good information. I had my colors "done" years ago and am definitely a spring. So my best colors are peaches, aqua, true bright red (not the purply kind) etc . I don't always pay attention to what I wear though. I have to admit to having quite a few neutral/denim combinations. Stuff I can just pull on and be done with it.

I am very colour sensitive! Many colours that make others happy, make me sad. Back in the 80's I did the book "Color Me Beautiful" tests, and for the most part, they were right on. It can take me weeks, and hundreds of samples to choose a bathroom wall colour, even something that small... I wear basically the same colours and do not vary. If I take a risk and purchase something, just on a whim, I almost always give the item away. Yep, like I said...I am colour sensitive~

I do think colors reflect our mood. If I wear a color I don't like I just don't feel quite right.

A interesting blog post. I'm a quilter, so putting colors together fascinated me. It's one of my favorite things about making a quilt.
I'm not good about wearing colors...I think I need to work on that! I am pretty washed out...my MT friend calls me a marshmallow! Thanks for your post.

Hi namemate! Sorry for the late comment. Life has been too busy over the past days. I'm a bad host.

Anyway, I think you are a naturally cheerful person. Your blog and your plenty of followers here is a great proof. Wishing you more happiness and teddy bears too :)
