Do you ever wonder?

When we travel, we see all kinds of houses….big and small…and I wonder who lives in them and how they spend their day. I’ve always done this for as long as I can remember.

Do you wish you could see who lives here and what it looks like inside?

This part of Old Florida is not an area I would want to live in but I think this little house is charming.

But how about this one on the Suwannee River?

HouseIMG_1774

Doesn’t it look a little precarious?

And what is the history of this old house right on the highway?

HouseOLDIMG_1784

This sign was across the street. Do you think they found the lost horse?

Just a few sights on an afternoon drive.

But doesn’t it make you wonder?

Oh yes, Diane! Whenever I see old houses or remains of old houses, I wonder what it was like when the house was new, when it was full of life. Enjoyed the photos. Sure hope they found the horse. :-(

That's an interesting game. I too sometimes look at houses and wonder who lives there. Sometimes I think I wouldn't want to know. :-)

I love peeking from the road at homes...especially abandoned ones. I always wonder their story. Josie calls those kinds of houses Scooby Doo haunted houses.

I love the flower baskets they hung!! A Horse is a big animal to lose, I hope they found him.

We sometimes pass an abandoned house, hubby always laughs because I tell him of the tragic young woman who threw herself to her death from the balcony after being chased through the house by an unwanted suitor! Well, it just looks like that sort of house!

How does someone lose a horse long enough to have to put up signs? I mean, they're kinda big and easy to spot in civilization, so yeah, makes me wonder. Probably stolen.

I have always loved looking at houses, always wondered about the life that happens inside it, noticing the little touches, like the pretty flowers on the porch, the gardens, the gates, the love, or lack of it...

never heard of "lost horse" ... wonder does that happen often?

That old horse is long gone by now:):) I love seeing little houses treated with love. The one by the highway looks sad. The river house is way too scary for me. years of the river flowing by those pylons, yikes. I love that you enjoy just driving around and looking. xoxo,Susie

So glad to know I'm not the only one who wonders about these things.
You found some interesting houses and I agree that first one sure is quaint and cute. I love the pop of pink on the front porch.
Can't say I've ever seen a "lost horse" sign before.

I thought I was the only one! I do this ALL the time Diane! Especially on rides and with old houses. I tell my husband how I would love to go back 50 years and just observe from a distance. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend ~*~Lisa

Diane- I am the SAME WAY! I have been that way since I was a little kid. I look at a house and wonder who lives there and what they do with their day. Our little SweetCheeks does the same thing and I never said a word to her about it...but we have been driving along and she will look at special house and wonder where the people are and what they are doing. You found some great places here- xo Diana

I am/was the same, ever since I can remember I always was fascinated by other's homes and wondered about their lives. I also made up stories about each place I saw-it's fun to do.
Have a good weekend.

Diane, we must be twins, separated at birth:-D! I pass by houses and make us stories...who lives there. I don't think I'd enjoy the house on stilts over the water, but the little cottage looks sweet, XOXO

Oh yes! Sometimes I drive through communities and wonder what sustains them. I think "what in the world do they do here to make a living?" That first house is darling. I imagine a dear little woman is making it her own.

I love looking at old houses and thinking of the history of the families that have lived there over the years. I look at the gardens too and sometimes you can see the odd bulb or shrub that makes me think, did they plant that too? Have a wonderful weekend. Chel x

Me too! I think it's why I love old houses so much. I always wonder were the people
who live there over the years happy? I used to watching a tv show "If Walls Could Talk." I loved that show.

I love "the house by the side of the road", I wonder if it has a tin top roof?

I love to do that! I am always looking at houses, big and small, gorgeous or charming or picturesque and wonder who lives there and what it may look like on the inside. Or I pretend that it is mine and imagine how I would feel to pull into that driveway everyday...I love day "dreamimg".

Always, Diane. Who lives there now and who used to live there.... You always touch my heart because I have been most of the places you show on your blog. We graduated from the Univ of FL so many weekends were spent paddling a canoe along the Suwannee. Never liked it's dark hue but it is "pure" Florida in that area. Ann

Wonderful photographs and a sweet post. I often wonder those things as I'm driving by old houses, I just let my imangiation fly.

I know you enjoy using lavender, I included this mouth-watering blackberry lavender cheesecake recipe on my blog. It disappeared real fast after I made it.

The little cottage at the etop is darling! Someone obvioulsy takes good care of it and plants flowers. But the house on stilts in the river... No way, no how, nope, no sireeeee bob, not going there. I'd be afraid the whole thing would collapse and be washed away.
