Are we THERE yet?

We can make the trip from FL to NC in one day but it’s a LONG tiring day so most of the time, we stay overnight about halfway there.

Since we are driving the route that was the main highway back in the ‘50s and ‘60s, we see all of the old motels. I wish I had time to take photos of all the neat signs we see.

I think it would be a little scary to stay in one of them though! lol

Hubby really surprised me on this trip. He was searching online for a motel room and found a brand new Hampton Inn in Statesboro, GA. They had just opened 3 weeks before! Everything was SO nice and spanking new! They really gave us special treatment, too. What a fun experience! We can’t wait to go back. So here are some of the photos in case you find yourself in GA some time. It’s close to some fabulous restaurants, too!

And have you EVER???

Have you EVER seen anything so cute?

There’s a PIG in our room!

I’m joining Brenda at the Cozy Little House

for Tweak it Tuesday.

Can I stretch the meaning of ‘tweaked’ to say this towel has been tweaked? heehee!

I love the thought of new rooms when traveling. Honestly I may seem crazy...but the first thing I do in a hotel room is check the bed for bed bugs. I have a terror of bringing anything like that home with me. Glad you husband thought ahead.:):) I too like to see the old motels and they are probably scrubbed cleaner than any new one .,....but I could not stay there either. :):) xoxo,Susie

Hey that was a cute towel - do they do that to every room? I like Hampton Inn. Never had a towel folder like that though. sandie

When my husband and I traveled by car on a vacation several years ago, we always looked for the newest hotels. They are so much better!

We stayed at a relatively new Hampton Inn this spring when we were in Florida, they're beautiful and oh, the breakfast! So good!

We stay in Hampton Inns all the time when we travel. My husband travels for his job and that's what he always chooses so we have Hilton Honors Points. They are almost always nice.

Hampton Inn is our favorite place to stay. This one looks a little different. Nice to see they change it up a bit. But that towel is just weird. ;)

The dreamer in me wants to visit the Dreamland motel. The realist in me is right there with you, wanting to stick with the Hampton!

How great to find a nice hotel, I have only seen towel animals on cruise ships, they always make me laugh....Nice extra touch! Enjoy the cool NC weather, you sure have the best of both worlds!

Awwww...such a sweet hubby you have! This would be so far beyond my hubby's comfort zone...sigh...ah well, a gal can dream.

Your hubby definitely takes good care of you. Love the towel animal. Josie would love it too. We did stay in some of those older motels on our route 66 trip last summer. Interesting. Great photo opportunities though.

I love staying a brand new hotel. Everything is so fresh and clean. taking the old routes instead of the interstate is my favorite. Wish I wasn't always in a hurry.

We prefer to stay in newer hotels, too, but the old ones sure are tempting. I just don't have the nerve. Hampton Inn is a nice hotel, but I don't recall seeing towel animals. Cute!

Nothing like being welcomed by cleanliness in a hotel....love the little towel animals. I went on a cruise with girlfriends a couple years ago and one night we came back to 2 towel monkeys swinging in the room. They were hanging from the ceiling and were so funny. Looks like you are having a ball! Keep us posted,
xo

This hotel looks just perfect. Everything clean, tidy and still new. The piggy is much better than the usual swans that some hotels put together! Have a great time. Chel x

How nice! I have seen those towels done on cruises, although I have never been on one my friends told me. Sounds great. That would be a long trip in a day..although we have done it too.

The old time scenic way is definitely better than interstate highways!! Motels have certainly changed over the years!. Bet they didn't leave any cute piggies on the bed in those old motels!

What a wonderful place! We love Hampton Inns and stay at them frequently. We participate in the Hilton Honors program too, so we get free nights once or twice a year! They have also modernized most of the older ones.

Cute pig towel. Our kids stayed in a Hampton Inn while we were in Tennessee this past weekend and they really love staying there. We stay at Best Western, because they allow our little doggies.
hugs,
Cindy
