Florida “Wildlife”

Well, this big guy doesn’t seem all that ‘wild’ but he’s a fun siting here in our part of the state.

MosaidPaynes

We saw this one at Payne’s Prairie and hubby got out and followed him around to get some good pics.

Here in Florida the Gopher Tortoise is listed as threatened so we are careful when driving through the parks to give him a wide berth.

And don’t be afraid…

AliIMG_4595

but we even have alligator clouds!!

Hi Diane,

This is such a neat post!! I've always found tortoises (and turtles) fascinating. When I was a child, I used to find small turtles and frogs at my grandparents' lake house, and I thought that was great fun. :) I was a bit of a tomboy. I'm glad you got some pics of this gopher tortoise.

That alligator cloud is really something -- you've got sharp eyes. My husband and I like to "cloud watch" too. :) Thanks for sharing with us.

I really appreciate your visit and comments! I hope you're having a wonderful day. :)

Hugs,

Denise

I am so fond of tortoises - he's such a lovely fella and so sad they are endangered. I love those clouds - never seen anything like that before - great that you captured them.

Oooh making me homesick (sometimes I wish I could be in two places at once). Tortoises are wonderful. I love those 'gopher tortoise crossing' signs we see around in Florida.

Love the alligator in the clouds...Didn't comment on you post last week about the sky in FL but when visiting your state we've always talked about how blue the sky is.

We were seeing a lot of turtles crossing the highways there for a while. Haven't seen many since it's gotten hotter. I see the alligator! Way cool!

I love tortoises and turtles.
I saw a big gopher tortoise just Friday near my friend's house. I wanted to scoop him up and take him home!

Interesting tortoise. You were probably lucky to find him. Hot here, too, but we have had our annual evening thunderstorms this week, cooling the evenings down and greening up the lawn and flower beds.

What a huge turtle! We always stop when we see them crossing the road, can't bare the thought of them being run over...they are much smaller than this one, LOL!
