What is this FOR?

I bought this because I ‘needed’ it!

But what is it’s original purpose, do you think?

Every tray or container I buy….

I wonder how many seashells it will hold!

I’m joining Coastal Charm for

Do YOU know what it is?

It lends itself to seashells very nicely...I have no idea what it really is...a candy dish? A jewelry organizer? A desk organizer? Hmmmm...someone will know!

Hi

It looks like a nuts dish.....something like what you'd get at Christmas. I think they are filled with a varied selection of nuts and dates for people to help themselves. However the seashells look lovely and it would look great in a bathroom!

keep well

I would glue those in and hang it on the wall like a little shelf.

My first thought was fill it with threads and yarn.

I agree with all the comments so far! My first thought was vanity tray then I thought maybe a wall shelf?? Guess it's up to you. I do like the shells in there! Pretty!

Love the vintage books in the previous post. As for the basket, haven't got a clue, but it holds the shells nicely.

Diane- I'm sure THAT's what it was meant for- sorting seashells! lol Not sure WHAT it was intended for. I wonder if it came as part of a package for a gift-with things like soaps, etc., in it? Whatever it is- it's cute! xo Diana

I am not sure what it is for - but I can tell you it is beautiful!

I love it filled with shells! I would say it originally held some sort of food products in a gift pack. I think it's a really useful item. I love baskets and organizing!

hugs,
Linda

Maybe it held nuts or a dried fruit assortment....whatever the case, your shells have called it home now! and rightly so! Love it!

I think it's perfect for your sea shells. I agree that it was once used for holding nuts, probably a gift pack basket.

I think the possibilities are endless - it's a cute little tray!

I bet it was packed with things like candies, chocolates, nuts, etc.. with a liner, ofcourse.. from one of those baskets, like from Harry and David, etc.

Well I think you've proved this tray was/is meant for holding seashells! It's a very neat piece!

I had one just like it, it came filled with different nuts and candies, and that is what I used it for when entertaining. xo

I used to work for a gift basket company and it looks like it might have held cheeses, crackers, sausages - that kind of thing. Like a Hickory Farms gift basket. I would put shells in it too! xo

Maybe it was filled with dried fruit? shells are better!

your shells look fab there though...

Yep..I agree with some of the above. I think it was used for displaying nuts and dates, etc and then wrapped in colored cellophane, or clear. I have one like it in a darker hue. I think yours is perfect for displaying your seashells. Perfect use!!
YOU BE SOOO SMART, Diane!! :):)

Im a little behind on yesterdays posts.. It's possible it was a chip and dip holder. It is pretty though with the shells in it :)

I love what the seashells did to that basket. They added the perfect touch. I am not certain what I think it's prior use was?? I cannot figure it out! Oh well.

I've seen it used for assortment of nuts in their shell. The pick, cracker, and empty shells get tossed in the middle.
