September’s Bounty

Well, it’s a rather small bounty but one we’ve enjoyed. We’re not sure growing tomatoes and peppers in pots was a success but it was worth a try. And they added some pretty color to our courtyard!

TomatoesIP

I think we’ll put some herbs in our containers now.

I’m joining Beautiful Sunday,

(not sure how amazing these are! lol)

Did you have a garden this year?

Great idea!! I am growing tomatoes in large pots this year also!! They look super delicious!!

Looks great to me! I've never been terribly successful with tomatoes. Except one year we had about a million cherry tomatoes. :)

So colorful and more importantly, healthy!!!

Unfortunately for us who live in the city, we don't have the chance to grow such healthy veggies.

Have a great week ahead namemate! Thank you for forever linking up.

Yes, it looks like the Little Shop of Horror just now, but it's producing still.

I think that tomato red is an amazing color and I'm sure that you've enjoyed those tomatoes and peppers for more than just color alone. Herbs would make a lovely little kitchen garden on your patio.

Sure looks to me like it was successful, Diane! It's so nice to have fresh garden tomatoes.

Looking good from here! I have loved the homegrown tomatoes in North Carolina...even my hubby says salad taste better, XOXO

It looks as though you were more successful than me. Very feeble offerings this year apart from the fruit! Have a wonderful week xx

Of course it was a success, they look so tasty. Love the color and I'm sure they'll be delicious.

They look like they turned out great! I didn't have my raised beds this year (hopefully we will build some this fall) so I grew my herbs, lettuce and tomatoes in containers. We had so much rain that my tomatoes were mushy thought.

they're definitely pretty. :)

We used to go to a campground in summer...all the old fellows would grow tomatoes in a 5 gallon bucket. Oh the bragging.:):) Hope you had some you could eat. xoxo,Susie

I'll read yours to my hubby, Susie. He'll get a laugh out of that. And yes, we had lots to eat and they were really sweet and good! Thanks for the sweet comments everyone!

Oh my goodness, YES, it is worth it - especially the tomatoes! Nothing from the grocery store ever tastes as good as a true vine-ripened tomato.

So pretty ! I just picked the last two cucumbers...the vines are about dead now. I have canned some tomatoes, made sauce, given some away and now I see another round out there that needs picked, yay! :)

Didn't do a garden at all this year. Last summer the heat was so atrocious that we lost everything early on, so just didn't do it this year. And of course, it would have been a perfect summer for a garden up until the last few weeks when the heat has been awful. Oh well, maybe next year.

The look great Diane. I grew a plant of tomatoes and one of green peppers in pots on our back deck. We have enjoyed fruits from each one! It's wonderful to have them so handy isn't it? Pam

Garden-fresh tomatoes...yum! Have a lovely Monday! Hugs.

I'm with you Diane. Trying to grow veggies in pots is more work with continual watering and fertilizing.
I had a nice container of herbs by the back door but my dog in pursuit of a chipmunk, dumped the contents.

Hi Diane,

I love your colorful produce!! I wouldn't feel bad if you didn't get a whole lot; this was not a good year for produce anywhere that I can see. Speaking of herbs, we bought some fresh herbs at our local Fresh Market, and I made herb butter to put on our grilled steaks tonight. Yum. :)

Visiting from Amaze Me Monday; have a lovely week, Diane.

Hugs,

Denise

We are winding down our garden. We still have tomatoes coming on, so we are giving it up quite yet. I have a pan full of tomatoes now to make salsa. Tomorrow's project. You tomatoes look great.

I remember growing peppers in pots several years ago and it was great fun, but lately I haven't done any gardening whatsoever. I'll live vicariously thru you ;).

There's nothing better than home grown tomatoes! You have to try making some freezer salsa....YUM!

No garden here...we have to many critters out here that eat up everything that you plant.

Oh yours look great! The tomatoes I planted in pots did Ok for a few weeks and I got 6 or 7 tomatoes and then the whole plant just rotted. Ugh. So I started completely over and planted a few more, hoping to get another couple of tomatoes before fall hits. I've got one, yes one, tiny green tomato growing, but it needs to get a lot bigger. So my attempt at growing tomatoes this year was not exactly a success either, but.... we try.

Your potted plants look great and have produced some lovely produce. The peppers are wonderful!

Yes, I have a garden - it's looking rather scraggly now and although I've made two batches of salsa and canned some tomatoes, there are still more ripening. Pasta sauce is next. And we eat tomatoes everyday. I do enjoy the luxury of going out to pick vegetables from my garden.

LOVE home-grown tomatoes! I like to grow the yellow cherry maters :)

Such a colorful array.
Yes, I have a rather large veggie garden and a very small orchard. I do so enjoy it.

It looks like you had a nice crop of tomatoes, Diane--they always taste so much better than store bought.

Well at least you grew a bounty. I planted seeds and got one single something, not even sure what it is, but I am keeping it alive to see if it is worthy of my care, or a weed ;)

I am sure that with a little salt and pepper those beauties were worth the effort. Valerie

At least you got a few tasty beauties for the effort! We always have pots of herbs on hand for cooking. I just snipped rosemary, basil, thyme, and parsley for our meatloaf dinner!
