The “Spa” in Stormy Blue

I want my bath to feel inviting,

a relaxing Spa right in my own home.

SpaIMG_5849

Do you remember in Downton Abbey when Cora says, “Mary was never going to marry on the cheap”?

Well, we updated our bathroom ‘on the cheap’!

IMG_5831

(My first post on our improvements is HERE)

I wanted some storage but all of the shelves designed for bathrooms were too small. So we found this bookcase at Target on sale for $18! Definitely cheap cheap! My hubby put it on ‘feet’ to get it off the floor just a bit and I loaded it up.

I thought about buying a basket for small items but remembered the vintage picnic basket on top of my ‘fridge. Perfect and cheapER!

Of course it needs to be functional so I put our beach towels that we use all the time in a stack with 3 vintage beach towels on top. A stack of hand towels in the back and extra washcloths in the swan.

Top shelf…all of the bath products I use, depending on my mood.

A little basket of spa supplies on top of the toilet

and 2 containers of bath salts on the tub.

I love the details of a space and I rearrange something every time I walk in this room. But I’m thrilled with it and every time my hubby walks by I give him a hug!

My girlfriend, Deb left me this comment,

“WOW is that ever pretty! :) You just need a little yellow rubber ducky for a pop of color :) Seriously, this is one great looking bathroom!”

So this is for HER!

I’m in the mood for something new.

Do you have a favorite bath product I need to try?

It's so lovely, Diane. And just the mention of Downton Abbey makes me want to put in my DVD and watch the whole thing over again!

Good morning Diane. Your bathroom looks so pretty. I missed your previous post so got all caught up on the old to new look. I like the blue paint you chose and of course love the seashore theme. The book case is perfect for your storage needs. It looks lovely! I hope you have a great day. Hugs, Pam

I took a close look to see if you had any Sesame Bath Oil. I love that stuff and prefer it to lotion.

Now I'm wondering what hubby will move on to next since he's getting so much sweet attention.

I am one for using trays and baskets to organize....it just truly helps make dusting and cleaning easier. I like the idea of the bookcase.:):) xoxo,Susie

It feels so good to update a bathroom.
The yellow Duck makes the pop of color work

I love your personal spa! My favorite spa item is epsom salts. Now that is really on the cheap! My daughter colors them and puts in scent.

I just finally got around to watching season 3 of Downton Abbey just last week on my Kindle Fire. I noticed that that statement too!

You see I have a rubber ducky...even though my grandson's outgrown it by now it still sits in the bathroom here : ) One of the first baby toys that I'd bought for him.

Ha ha this WAS funny :)

Your spa bath is really pretty with great storage, and fun touches. I need to paint our master bath and keep putting it off. Thanks for reminding me :) and for the inspiration.

I LOVE BLUE! It is my very favorite color and I never tire of looking at it. Your decorating looks wonderful, so cool and relaxing. I am sure that was some of the things you were wanting it to feel like. The white trim really sets off the blue. LOVE IT!!!

Hi Diane, It has been way too long since I have visited you. So here I am trying to catch up with some of my faves.

Your blue bathroom is wonderful. I visited the previous post as well. You have really done a fabulous job in reinventing some of your own things and the book shelf was a great idea. It is so charming and really does have a spa feeling. I still like wallpaper though and I am thinking of papering my master bath. A makeover on the cheap because I bought the wallpaper 7 years ago on a closeout. It is a very understated pattern. We'll see.
Enjoy your perfectly lovely spa bath.
