Wifey found the skatesies…Hubby ‘made’ the lacesies!

You can tell by the title that we spend too much time together! And we go a little bit crazzzie!

IMG_6560

But you can imagine how EXCITED I was to find these gorgeous ice skates at the old junky thrift store. (I haven’t done a post on that store yet)

IMG_6554

I had hoped to find some good roller skates to store in my box but these were even better!

IMG_6561

Of course I didn’t pay a whole lot for the skates and they really needed new laces.

SCinemaIMG_6561

Hubby bought red parachute cord and made new laces for them!

SFLIMG_6550

Are they AMAZING?

(this is not a rhetorical question…hee hee)

My hubby is pretty amazing, too! Red heart

Those skates look in pretty good condition. You always manage to find the neatest things.

They sure are pristine! Did you have to dig around much to find them? Your hubby had a great idea. Oh the fun you'll have at Christmastime!

a match made in heaven. :)

Are the skates your size? Maybe they will do the ice skating rink downtown during the holidays, and you could use them! They haven't had it the last couple of years, but it would be nice if they brought it back, wouldn't it? The skates really are a nice find, and your hubby was clever to think of paracord :)

Sure do miss you! I'm hoping to make it to your side of the world someday soon :)

Yes, they are darling!! I like the backdrop of the old suitcase. I also found a pair, probably a girls sz. 5? at a thrift store last spring, also in near mint condition. Still trying to find a place for them. What I wish I hadn't done a few years back was to throw out my husbands hockey skates (ratty though they were!) from when he was a little boy. What was I thinking??!

Oh, and I agree with Vee. These will be perfect at Christmastime!

Now you have to find an ice rink and go skating Diane. Do they have ice skating rinks in Florida? I know they hockey rinks. These are in great shape and I love the red laces.

I may have to put red laces in mine now. Thanks for the idea!

Be sure to bring your skates to our house this winter when we get our backyard ice rink up and running again! Those skates are in better condition than my 30+ year old skates that I wore all winter long. How fun!

They look brand new. How sweet that your husband helped out with them. I have only ever ice skated twice in my life and roller skated , as a kid , in the street:):) xoxo,Susie

Those skates look like they're in pretty good condition. What the heck are they doing in Florida? Coincidentally enough I just finished a tag for Tag Tuesday using a photo of my old skates. Great minds!

Your "new" skates look great! How lucky you are that your hubby came to the rescue! :)
I did have a find yesterday - cleaning out my computer/sewing room I found the cute dish I had purchased for my tea bag at dinner.

Diane,
Those skates are so cool. I think the red adds a pop of color. I went ice skating one time with my best friend back in the day, and did a fairly good job skating around. You should show us the shop sometime where you got these delightful skates.

Have a good week.

What a great find, Diane. Probably not too much need for ice skates in Florida :)

Love the old box, too. Time for me to start making the rounds of the thrift stores again.

What a great find, Diane! I wish I'd have kept my ice skates from my younger years. I still have my old sled, though.
Thanks for your sweet visits and kind words, dear friend. xo

I still have my ice skates from when I was a teenager. Does that make them antiques now?? They still fit and I still skate.

I'm going to have to use some paracord for laces tho - great idea. Do you ice skate Diane?

Mevely317 said...

They are DEFINITELY amazing! :)
Brings back lots of lovely memories!

Betsy@My Salvaged Treasures said...

Yes, they are amazing. What a great idea to use parachute cord for the laces. Me thinks you'd have a hard time finding red laces that long.

Joanne said...

They are beautiful! I always wanted skates like that but since I spent most of the time at the rink on my butt...I figured it was not worth it for me to get some! :0)

Very cute display.

I have been picking up old skates as I find them I plan on doing something similar as others have done with altered shoes, or perhaps just add some red and greenery for a holiday vignette.
