I’m proud of myself!

I needed something, so I made it!

IMG_1243

I’ve been using fingertip towels in my bathroom and they are the perfect size.

But all I had were holiday towels and this lavender towel in the size I needed.

IMG_1249

When I went to the department store to get some more new fingertips, I found out they were $14.99. They cost more than a regular hand towel.

IMG_1241

Then I remembered I had some pieces of a white towel that I had cut up to make a beach bag and I made fingertip towels.

IMG_1239

I have a little ledge next to my sink and that’s really all I need there.

IMG_1242

I had the trim from other projects so I made 2 and have enough terry to make one more.

I’m in business now and happy with the money I saved.

That’s thrifty living and only took me all afternoon to accomplish! lol

Doesn’t it make you feel proud when you save money?

In deed it does. Not only are theses towels expensive, but they are not always of very good quality. Thrifty living is good living.

Well, look at you! Those are really nice - nicer than most that you could find in a store, and you saved money -I'm all for that. I'm quite thrifty, and creative when it comes to budgeting.

being that i am still perfecting my washing skills - how will you wash them without the ribbon color bleeding? cold water? hand washing? ( :

they are too cute. you could so change up the ribbon for other folks decor. gifts? house warming? birthday or Christmas?? what fun!! simple & very festive.

Hello there Lavander dreamer.
I think, its not only the money, but the achievement of making them yourself.
I always have little hand towels near at my sink. I like this idea.

That's a great idea Diane. Towels are SO expensive aren't they? Your's are sweet with the ribbon trim. Once could also us lace or other embellishments.

What a great project Diane! The guest towels turned out so classy. I agree that they're so expensive now. They used to be very reasonable... well ok it's been a while. But I sure won't be buying any soon. Thanks to you I'll try making my own.

Blessings, Edie Marie

Yes, I love it when I buy something that I really like and it's on sale at the same time. Your towels are very nice. I didn't know you could sew. My mom used to sew and she made all my clothes growing up.

Have a lovely day.

I love little projects like this! The towels look great with the added ribbon. It's a good feeling to save a bit of money and thumb your nose at ridiculous marked-up prices! Wendy x

I am proud of you too!
Putting 'love' into something custom makes it that much more wonderful.
I can't imagine paying $14 for a little towel, but that's how it is around here too. That's why I make so much stuff myself.
They are pretty towels. You could make a whole, custom, set when towels come on sale...
Good Job~!
