Halpata Tastanaki Preserve “Good fences”

It’s fun to share parts of Florida that you don’t expect.

We are surprised sometimes, too when we drive around to the State Parks and Wildlife Preserves.

Last weekend we drove to another entrance to one of our favorite hiking trails.

We had already hiked for almost 2 hours at Ross Prairie so we just took a few photos of the trailhead and picked up a brochure.

There are so many wildflowers blooming here this spring. Even the purple thistle looked pretty.

Do you have good hiking trails where you live?

I hope you get a chance to get out and enjoy them!

Thanks Tex for the Good Fences party!

No bird hiking trails near here...several bodies of water we can visit though, in hopes of seeing shorebirds, etc. LOVE your fence!

Colorado has great walking trails. As new lands (sadly) are developed, green space and paved walking trails are a part of green space development. Then there are the national and state parks both on the dry lands and in the mountains with great trails. I never really thought that Florida had prairie. Just swamps. Sea shore and Disney. LOL.

You're right-- doesn't look very FL-like, but very pretty. Purple thistles are neat, but soooo pokey! I've seen horses very carefully eat the flowers.

Looks like a beautiful place to hike.

Love your fences. Did you enter these in fences today. Called good fence.

With The Roundabout Range entry.

These are excellent!

No. We really have about zero trails to walk. There is a river walk "in the city" but so much crime there that we wouldn't think of using it. So our favorite trail remains the cemetery. I'd love having the trails you have available to you.

I like your photos. It looks like Texas! We have a few places to hike. One of my favorite would have to be at Gardner State Park.

When Pigs Fly = When I retire!!
I love hiking and we try to get out and walk along the Chatahoochee River, but after working all week - there are so many "errands" to run!You truly have the best of two worlds! Fla. in the winter and all the many hiking trails and North Carolina with all of their trails!! Such diverse beauty!!
Love that wooden fence!!

Very pretty! We have lots of trails, but it is too hot now, unless one gets up before dawn and goes for about an hour.

Love seeing the countryside with the odd fence thrown in for good measure.

NO trails here locally. There are many beautiful places in the "natural state" I just don't live near any of them and with snakes so prevalent here I stick mostly to the roads but there are lots of rarely traveled ones. I'll veer off in the Winter when the snakes are hibernating. LOL! Do you have to worry about snakes or gators on your hikes? The new trail looks interesting. I'm on the trail to Wal-Mart today if my SUV doesn't blow over...very windy here today. Lake and boating advisories are out but otherwise it's gorgeous; 76 and sunny. Thank you for taking me on your "trails"...I love that!
Maybe this week I'm due to photograph one of mine.

It is nice that Florida has so many preserves and parks.. The wildflowers are pretty, great fence shots! Have a happy day and weekend ahead!

We have two parks nearby and then try to drive out to the country on the weekends. Nothing formal, just pull over by the side of the road to enjoy the wildflowers. Great post reminding us of our wildlife preserves.

A photo and brochure leads to a real hike...next time! Tons of great trails in the NJ Pinelands. :)

Pretty spot for a hike.

No we only have the neighborhood, but there is a hay field at the back of our home over the fence, could walk there but it is time for the snake to come out.
Happy Spring!

This looks beautiful, and what an interesting name! Yes, fortunately we have beautiful hiking trails here, both inland as well as on the coast, all of them hilly, some steep. All of them offer lovely views and lots of wildlife. I hike them as often as I can.

You really do have the best hiking adventures. I can't wait until the weather warms up everything so that we aren't walking in mud.

It's nice to see that Florida has such diverse areas and ones that don't include the stereotypical palm trees and flat topography. Who knew??

We have many, many trails here in NY, and at least as many in Massachusetts where we are moving permanently to on Tuesday. Sorry I've been MIA but moving will do that to you ;).
