Another ‘favorite fence’!

We’ve discovered the most wonderful hiking and biking trail a short drive from our house.

IMG_4278

It’s the NEW Dunnellon Trailhead, part of the Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway!

IMG_4649

Pack up the bikes and let’s GO!

IMG_4651

The main trail is paved which is very nice.

IMG_4653

But we like to get off the beaten path, don’t you?

IMG_4665

What a beautiful spot to stop for a quick photo! (or 2)

IMG_4664

Love driving up and seeing this long fence.

IMG_4688

And knowing in just a couple of miles there is a view off the bridge of the Withlacoochee River!

IMG_4670

I’m joining Tex for the Good Fences party!

good fences

All photos straight out of my camera!

IMG_4671

It’s fun trying to keep up with my honey!

Would you rather hike or bike?

It’s getting hot here in Florida and biking may be cooler!

What a beautiful place to ride/hike! I think I like riding better, but I do both. Depends on the terrain. A nice shady paved trail? Awesome for biking.

I am amazed at all the hiking trails there. I have never thought of Florida as a hiking state. I guess I think of water sports there. Love your pictures. I wish Ted and I had a place near by to do this. xoxo,Susie

Canaveral National Seashore? I went to high school in Cocoa Beach. You find the loveliest bike trails where you are.

You have so many cool hiking trails to enjoy! We don't hike or bike. Mainly just travel the backroads looking for photo-ops.

What a lovely place for a bike ride - wish I could join you :) There are several mountain trails here, but I must say I don't get out on my bike very often. . .I think I should remedy that :)

Hugs to you, my friend!

That looks like so much fun! I think it might be fun just to say the word Withlacoochee whenever you get the chance. :)

lucky you to have such a beautiful place to ride. i have a great spot as well here at the jersey shore.

i love to ride and i am a casual biker. i like paved, flat roads, with lots of beautiful scenery. just like this!!

If there are hills, I'd rather hike than bike. I like biking on the flat. Have a hard time keeping up with husband, though.

The trail you found looks like a great spot for hiking, biking and picture-taking!

Looks like so much fun and great exercise! Love that beautiful fence too! Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!

Beautiful pictures - I would love to bike there as well.
I like both, hiking and biking. Our area is pretty hilly, so there are parts where I certainly prefer to bike. On paved trails, however, I'd rather bike than hike; I'm not fond of hiking on paved trails, the rugged ones are easier on the feet and legs. Here at my place I love to hike up a trail called "rough go" - the name says it all!

Oh, I love your trail photos, Diane. Now, I want to go for a hike. It must be so peaceful every time you go on your hikes. I used to ride a bike all the time, but it's been way too long.

You were born on a Saturday?? So was my husband, and he is the hardest worker I know. Thank you for letting people know how to check out their birth day. You can find everything on the internet these days.

Here's to Saturday's Child!

love,

I'd rather ride a horse. :) If I still had one, that is. Do you know, I haven't been on a bike in years. I just couldn't master the hand brakes and fell off. haha! I prefer the brake petal. Wonder if they still make those? Lovely shots, Diane! The water looks so calm and the reflections are just beautiful!

I think I'd rather ride a bike, though I don't own one anymore. My daughter bikes daily and I'm sure that she'd appreciate that nice flat terrain. Very pretty, too.

Sorry, but I don't like to hike and/or bike! LOL When we were in Alaska, I had to climb up a mountain 700 feet tall to do the zip lining. I really wasn't sure I could make it. But, I did - out of breath - but I made it. I'm just not an outdoor kind of girl.

Beautiful photos.

So picturesque, Diane! It's great that you take your camera with you. I like the fence on one side of the property & the use of the boulders/ rocks on the other sides.

What a lovely place for you to go biking. Since I have a not so great knee I think hiking would be easier for me then bike riding is.

I'm guessing I had better stick with hiking.....even though I love to ride a bike, it doesn't love me....
I have had a broken nose and a broken collar bone from bike rides...both were separate wrecks!

Looks like a relaxing place...

I live next to the Confederation trail in PEI. A few years back we would pick a location and load up the bikes and head to that spot and have a picnic and venture. I think it is time to get back to those days. This is a lovely spot to venture to bike ride

Wow...what a beautiful state! Your pictures are wonderful and it must be exhilerating to bike like you two do! My hubby works out at the gym and I have a stationary bike here at home. I'm glad you enjoyed 'Halftone'. Me too. I get addicted to my camera roll and all the fun apps. =) The white flower in the truckbed was a huge basket of white lobelia. I always planted bedding plants of lobelia before and they never last more than a month. So this time I'm trying the hanging baskets of it....one blue and one white in a shaded area under the trees. Wishing you a glorious day Diane...

What a great biking/hiking trail. I love blogs and bloggers because you allow us to see a side of places we would never see otherwise. I'm not a "tourist attraction" person....you're showing me a side of Florida I've never seen....beautiful! Happy Trails.....literally.

Pamela Gordon said...

What a perfect place to walk, hike and bike! I enjoy walking and some hiking best as I've not been on a bike in probably 20 years! They've started paving the trails around our nearby city and some don't like it at all as it's hard on the body for avid walkers and runners but it is also more accessible for the elderly and those in wheelchairs. There are pros and cons to everything. There is gorgeous scenery along that trail for you to enjoy Diane. Stay cool and have a great weekend.

What a great find...I bet you use all the trails...I'm a walker...never had a bike growing up...learning to ride now might be not so good.

Beautiful photos!! I wish that I could still ride a bike, but my doctor say not no more riding a bike for me since I have bad knees. Not really suppose to hike either unless it is really a flat walking trail.
