“Wednesday Wee Ones” Things I don’t collect

I don’t collect these but I think they are very neat and when the price is right, I buy them.

IMG_3944

I got the first set for $2 and they are my favorites.

IMG_4102

Wikidpedia’s definition, “A matryoshka doll also known as Russian nesting doll, refers to a set of wooden dolls of decreasing size placed one inside the other.”

Then I found a second set for $2.

IMG_4101

And last week I bought a bag for $3 that included all of the rest of these and a few other Christmas balls not shown.

IMG_3947

These are neat.

IMG_3948

They are not nesting dolls but bells.

IMG_3950

I’ve packed them up in my Christmas stuff and left the dolls out to display.

IMG_4399

I don’t like too many things with my books,

IMG_4400

just some of my favorite things.

IMG_4401

Looks like someone’s been helping me decorate!

IMG_4105

HHMMMMM!

My comments won’t publish today. I’ll be outside playing. And when I come in, I’ll read, publish and ENJOY! Thank you!

Have a fabulous day!

Take time to PLAY!!!

Aren't the nesting dolls so neat? I have bought a set of those for my daughter every Christmas (and sometimes birthday) for many years. So she has quite a collection going. She brought me a set of them from Russia when she was over there for six weeks with a group of students and chaperones her senior year of high school in 1996. I didn't rest easy until she was back in the U.S.A.

I have a set of the nesting dolls a friend brought me from Russia and I can't say I've ever seen them anywhere for sale here. Hmm, does look like the beginnings of a new collection for you. :-)

Love your collection! And, being a true Nosey-Rosey, I loved looking at your bookshelves. How fun that you have a Russian fairy tales book on that shelf! Thanks for letting us take a peek.

My daughter loves those nesting dolls and I do too but I am on an all out campaign to clear out and I was starting with my books and bookshelves. I wouldn't need to if mine were as neat as yours.

Collecting is fun especially if you find a bargain. Collect away. Have a play day of fun. Off to sit with my grandson(7 months old. Another hot day here at the coast.

Very nice collection.
I love nesting dolls. I have two everyday sets and three Christmas sets.
I visited Ukraine in 2006 for a missions trip. When visiting the market I could not believe how many nesting doll venders. It was funny because many were American style, like Star Wars nesting dolls...so on. :-)
Fun post, thank you.

Are you sure you don't collect them? Because they are collecting you!! I love those, don't have any, but they make me think of my grandma. She was Russian and always wore a babuska!

They are so cute on your shelves. I have a set and they are Winnie the Pooh characters. I found them at the thrift shop and they live here for Tiger to play with.

Diane, I love seeing how you arrange your book shelves....just so special...art in fact! =) I've been sorting through my books to weed out a few boxes for our school yard sale. My poor husband had back pain from carrying some stacks of coffee table books out. I love a good book.....I love childrens's book illustrations. Books have always been the dearest things to me. Your Russian nesting doll collection is nice and its amazing how many sets you have been able to pick up. I've enjoyed your post...=) Hope your day is sunny and sweet.

Lovely collection of Matryoshka dolls. Lucky you! I don't know whether or not you crochet but there is a free pattern out on the Web in order to make crochet Matryoshka dolls.
I love your books.

Hello sweet Diane! Long time no talk, at least it feels that way :) I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day.

You sure know how to find a bargain - I should come shopping with you sometime! Wouldn't that be fun? :)

Enjoy your weekend, friend!

Love your collection even though you are not collecting them. I can't believe the great prices you got these for. I've always wanted a set so need to look where you are looking. I'm guessing a flea market or somewhere like that.

Diane,
I JUST LOVE THESE DOLLS, just one more thing we have in common. I have seen them around, but haven't bought any for myself yet. They look so charming on your book shelf. They are the cutest dolls, and I love that little bear peeking over too.

My daughter likes nesting dolls--and books. A room just isn't complete without them, is it?

I wanted a closer look at the books on your shelves - with so much variety you are never without something to read. Your additions to the shelves make them special.
