A Good Home in Florida? “Good Fences Friday”

Come with me to the Halpata Taskanaki Preserve.

fenceIMG_4587

How about this for a good place to build your home?

tortoiseIMG_4580

It’s a tortoise burrow built right under the fence post.

tortoiseIMG_4085

We even saw a small tortoise one afternoon. (small is only the size of a dinner plate or platter, or my hubby’s long fingers!)

While I took these photos, I noticed the sun was shining on the wire giving it a blue tint.

You just never know what you’ll see when you hike in Florida!

I’m joining Tex for the

 Good Fences party!

Do you have some interesting fences to share?

I remember seeing some tortoises in Florida when we visited Disney World. There was an island my daughter and I boated to (she was 3), and we saw all kinds of wildlife, but the tortoises were enormous! This little guy is cute ;) Wendy x

Great pictures. I am not so apt to touch turtles...I am not sure which are snappers. My cousin used to say a snapping turtle will bite and hold you till it thunders. YIKES. xoxo,Susie

How neat to spot that Tortoise den and the tortoise itself. Makes you wonder how sturdy that particular post is though.

You do see the most interesting things! I've never seen a tortoise burrow or a real blooming cactus. Great pictures as always!

Beautiful photos! Love the cactus!

That looks like a gopher turtle to me! My father used to tell me stories about my grandmother making a stew out of those turtles when he was growing up just north of St. Augustine back in the 1930's and 40's. I occasionally see them in my yard here in Tallahassee.

Hi Diane! Oh, that's so sweet. I've been traveling and just read your comment about the Tildas. If you'll go to Pinterest there are zillions of free patterns for Tilda and even some sites that will walk you through the making of one. You could look at my Tilda boards on Pinterest. The doll itself it the same, mostly, on all of them except the hair - that's the hardest part for me. I hope this will help. You do so well on making your little 'babies' you won't have any problems at all. You can buy the books at JoAnns or order from Amazon, but heck, free is free! :)
You'll do great.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

A very nice place to visit, indeed. The blue fence is very neat. I am glad you noticed the reflection. And what a treat to see a tortoise!

We were out walking on my grandmother's property in Grand Island. Use to be all orange trees - now over grown. That's a gopher hole. The gopher digs out the hole but be careful, because snakes "share" the gopher holes with the gopher.
