Shades of Lavender and a Hummingbird Moth

We’ve seen some of the most beautiful flowers since we’ve been here.

lavendertext

Butterfly bushes and all kinds of plants in shades of lavender grow so well here in NC.

I always walk over to the butterfly bushes to look for the Hummingbird Moths. A link to learn more about them is HERE.

I’ve only been lucky enough to get one good photo.

Aren’t they amazing?

I’m dedicating my Lavender post to our new host, Judith. Thanks for continuing our love of mosaics, my friend! Thanks also to Diane and Cindy!

I’m joining Beautiful Sunday

So pretty, Diane.
The hummingbird moths are amazing. The first time I saw one I couldn't figure out what I was looking at.
I am very impressed by your photo. I chased one around my patio the other day and ended up with a series of blurry photos. They are fast movers.

The hummingbird moths are gorgeous. We had them in the garden once and I was lucky enough to get some photos. I'm sure they have been around other times I just haven't been quick enough to see them :)

Diane...Did you receive your notice from Goodreads that you WON a copy of my memoir?? That is so funny, because there were something like 200+ entries, and Goodreads has total control over it, so I couldn't have possibly "chosen" YOU!! I'm so happy for you!!

Thank you lavender sister, a beautiful mosaic and I love the font you used!
I've photographed hummingbird moths before so recently when I saw a couple on the butterfly bushes I walked up to one for a real close look. Do you know it allowed me to cup it in my hand while it fed on the nectar!
Your capture of one is awesome.
Thanks for linking to MM Diane.

the hummingbird moth photo is especially spectacular. And how fitting to honor Judith with your post. I used to get you two mixed up years ago with the Lavender in your name, but not anymore. I enjoyed your post on Marshall. I'm not sure we've been there, some of the NC towns run together in my mind but it definitely should be put on our list. We love NC small towns!

I don't remember seeing these moth's when I was a kid. Just started seeing them in the last 5 years that we have lived here in Arkansas.

The hummingbird moth is amazing Diane.
I think this is what I saw one day in my daughter's garden in France last year. However by the time I had my camera focused - it had gone - they are so quick.

Beautiful flowers in your NC garden.

Enjoy your late summer days.
Hugs
Shane

Wasn't that just the bee knees that we would post on the same thing?
No wonder it's called a Hummingbird Moth as it sounds just like one! You got a much better picture than I did but I learn so much from my blogging friends. Thank you!

Love your photos! Lavender and green are two of my favorite colors. I've never seen one of those moths in person, just photos. Amazing little creatures.
