Photo Challenge : Movement

This was a fun challenge! I thought of a couple of photos that I’ve taken that would work perfectly. (I hope!!!)

This first one is a view of the cotton fields that we drive by when we travel between Florida and North Carolina. This photo was taken through the car window with hubby driving 60 mph! So the movement was from US! The cotton is blurry but I think it looks neat that way.

Now we’ll switch over to taking photos of nature ‘in movement’!

Sholom Park is a fabulous place to walk carrying a camera.

This heron flew right in front of me with the ‘catch of the day’ in his beak.

I couldn’t believe my luck with this shot!

KoiIMG_1546[4]

And these KOI are beautiful in the pond. But it takes more than luck to get a good photo of them. I took a few (a few dozen probably) to get one good one. This big guy is my favorite fish in the pond!

I’m taking part in Donna’s photo challenge.

Why don’t you join us?

I should join. Looks like a lot of fun. We have those cranes here and I have yet to get a photo. Yours is amazing. I may have an opportunity one day when I catch the local bird in my backyard water garden trying to snatch one of my two little koi. They are hardly worth the effort at about 5 inches. The one you photographed is a beauty. Have a great week end, Diane.

I almost did a similar photo like your first one - taking it from a moving car. I like the effect on the cotton field, giving it a more painterly look. You had good timing for that heron shot! And the fish one is just lovely. Yes, with moving objects it is best to take a LOT of photos and then cull through and pick the best. You had water reflections to deal with, so I know how much of a challenge it was. Wonderful job, as always, Diane!

Great shots, my friend! Love the GBH with the fish - what a great catch for both of you! I'm still baby-sitting two Granchildren. A 1-year old and a 3-year old, so I've been pretty busy!

Great capture of the heron and the koi Diane. If I'd had my camera when out gardening yesterday I may have caught the sneaky heron at our pond but he flew over the trees when he heard me coming.
The cotton fields are nice, you'd never know it was a moving shot.
Have a good weekend lavender sister.

I love the shot of the cotton fields...I finally got to see some when we went down to New Brunswick to see my daughter graduate from an academy down there.

Very nice photos. I especially like the last one of the Koi. There's a lot happening there -- wavelets, reflections and, of course, the fish.

The heron is great! We have those around here, near the river, and I've never been able to get a good shot. They're so skittish that by the time I get the camera to my eye the bird is already gone. Good job!

Beautiful shots. I love the lucky Heron shot. The movement in the water of the third shot is remarkable.

I think the Koa fish are beautiful. The cotton patch made me think of my mama, her family worked them when she was a child. All your photos are great. I'm having a little give away at my blog, if you would like to get in on it. I'll be drawing a name Tuesday. Blessings friend

Great shots Diane - all three show movement well and the heron with the fish in its beak is fabulous.

See you're back in Florida already - have a good Winter and think of us shivering soon!!!

Thanks of your comment on the challenge post - I am lucky to have traveled and photographed much of the world, but I'll let others do the books I think!

Happy day -
Mary
