St. Augustine, Florida

We spent a few days in St. Augustine this week. It’s one of the reasons we love living in this beautiful state. It only took us a couple of hours to drive to St. Augustine, the oldest city in the United States. (Wikipedia link with more info HERE.)

The beach is wide with powdery white sand and I even found a fence near the dunes below our hotel.

I’ll have more photos to share so please be patient with me as I try to catch up on all of your news in the next few days. I love getting back from a trip and visiting everyone!

I’m joining Tex for the

Good Fences party!

These photos were taken just before sunset when the sky starts to turn lavender and pink.

I hope you are having a wonderful week too?

Diane, I have toured the fort at St. Augustine and I was amazed. All those tiny shells...made me feel so small in the whole realm of this world. It's a beautiful old town. Loved your pictures. I think of you every time I see lavender skies. :):) xoxo, Susie

Absolutely beautiful. You really do have the best adventures. These pictures are such a contrast to our 29 degrees this morning. Everything was covered in frost. Josie had thought it snowed when she woke up.

I wanted to thank you for having the pop-up comments. I have the hardest time leaving comments with any of the other ones. It's always so easy to leave a message with you, and I appreciate that so much.

I remember visiting St Augustine in 1973 when I was 8 years old. We had gone to Tampa to visit my Uncle and cousin and they took us there. So beautiful. We walked the town admiring the historic structures and we ate at a really cool restaurant though the name escapes me....then we were off to Sanabel Island! Maggie

I visited St. Augustine about 20 years ago and absolutely loved it. Where else can you find a walled city in the U.S.? Looking forward to seeing more of your photos.

I loved all your NC posts but these are beautiful too.

Our daughter lives in Ponte Vedra Beach, not far from St. Augustine, and each time we visit her we intend to go. Time passes too quickly and we still haven't made it but I want to next time.

We visited St. Augustine over 30 years ago, and I would love to go back again sometime. I love the architecture in the old part of the city. The lighthouse was in shambles at the time, but I have read that it has been restored since then.

My brother and SIL spend the winters in Ocala, Diane. I visited them the Christmas after my first husband died in 2007, and they took me to see St. Augustine. It's a beautiful town, so charming. I love the old town with the art galleries and interesting shops. And, of course, the beach. I'd like to take Dennis there. Hugs, Nancy

It is a beautiful place -- and so full of history. WE didn't spend time on the beach; guess we need to go back (a little farther for us, but we have lots of time!)

Enjoying our time in the Pacific Northwest, but definitely starting to miss Florida!
