A Good Start to the New Year!

We got our first hike in on New Year’s day.

Halpata Tastanaki Preserve is near our house and our favorite place to hike.

We’ve taken a second hike already so we’ll be trying to beat the 50 hikes we made last year. Not sure what the weekend will bring though. One step forward…two steps back. (I had kidney stones this week but I’m all better now! That’s a pain, literally!)

Oh....bless your heart. My sweet husband has had several bouts with kidney stones....not a fun time! Hope they stay away! Two hikes down? This is awesome and not only does it carry loads of health benefits, but the mind gets refreshed as well. Wonderful!
Have a happy Sunday.

One of my goals this year is to exercise more and I love your idea of 50 hikes...I may have to borrow that! ;-)

Enjoy the sunshine and have a wonderful week, my friend!

I need my fix of Florida weather this morning as we are in the midst of a snow squall. Yesterday was sunny and I hope this afternoon turns sunny too.

I love pine trees! Your header caught my eye right away. Some folks don't even notice the pines growing down here, but I just love the scent of pines.
I'm sorry you had kidney stones, I've never had them but they say the pain is terrible!! Glad you are all better!

We're sunny here this morning but it's 15 degrees outside. Hoping to get above freezing. What a great idea of 50 hikes...thinking Hubby and I should try that too.

Beautiful clear skies and lots of sunshine I see in these lovely snapshots Diane! Very similar to here in Alicante but we also have to put up with a nasty cold wind.
Sorry to hear you haven't been well...better now I hope!!

Take care now

I laughed about the "hope your weekend is sunny". Our weekend is rainy - 24 hours straight and we are loving it!

Kidney stones, that's terrible, glad you are feeling better now. Good idea to keep track of your hikes. It's raining in California today, which is just so GREAT! So no sun here, but rain is what we need, so I'm happy! Dogs not so much.

Glad you're doing better! Lovely sunny pics!

Oh what a wonderful day for a hike. The photos are fabulous

We've just finished breakfast and ready to start our day. It is dark and rainy and very chilly out today - I think instead of hiking today we'll spend time catching up on house chores.

Glad the kidney stones are gone - have a grand rest of the weekend my dear friend. I have a picture to send you.

Some day when I retire--(oh--I am retired) and get rich--oh--that is what I am waiting for--the getting rich part--my goal would to be live in Fl for 6 months of the year and north for 6 months!!
then I could go outside and walk and do hikes and take lots of photos--someday!!!
glad you are better--

It would be so nice to get out and hike in warm weather. I hope you're feeling much better. I've never had a kidney stone but my husband did years ago. It was very painful!! It is sunny here today and cold but actually milder than the past week. I'm smiling. :)

Oh, Diane, I know that kidney stones are supposed to be so very painful! I hope they are all dissolved and that they won't give you any more problems. This looks like a beautiful place to hike. I have to hike more this year--i could really use more exercise.

It is sunny here but very very cold. I opted for a boring treadmill. ick!

Yikes...those things are really painful! But moving around is supposed to help them move along according to my DH"s urologist. I hope to get in some walking now that it is warming up a tad.

Counting the days until we're in the sunny south too.

You poor thing. My husband has had kidney stones. It's so painful. I think we might need snowshoes to do hiking around our snow covered state right now.

Oh my...kidney stones are no fun!! I want to walk more this year, but it will have to be on the treadmill until winter is over. Then we can go hiking in the park.

(I thought of you driving past Cape Canaveral a couple of weeks ago Diane.)

So sorry to hear of your kidney stones! My doctor always advises me to drink plenty of water as I am at risk as well. I should listen to him better! I think I would love to hike down there!

Ack! Kidney stones! My former nemesis. I had four different bouts of kidney stones, two that ended in surgery, until I started taking magnesium and B6 and drinking more water. I found the remedy in a Prevention Magazine. The magnesium binds with the calcium, making it unable to bind with oxalate (I think it was), and the B6 acts as a natural diuretic. So far, so good. May you never have another kidney stone, friend. They were worse than just about anything else.
