Downton Abbey continues….

I miss our Downton Abbey discussions on Monday morning. Are there any blogs discussing the shows?

Are you watching it?  Or reading about it?

Vee at a Haven for Vee had some wonderful posts last year! Read them HERE!

We've looked forward to the season all year.

And there are lots of plots and stories going on…lots to talk about.

About the only criticism I would have is about the lighting. Have you noticed how dark many of the scenes are and what deep shadows the characters have on their faces?

I’m joining Roses of Inspiration.

Well, let me know if you are discussing the shows on your blog. I’d love to join in!

Happy Monday!

Oh looks as if you have a pretty book from last season! When I couldn't find an online source to preview the shows (though I know many who did and would not share, though I asked =D ) the discussions fell flat. Why don't you lead a discussion? I'm sure that you would enjoy it and I know the rest of us would.

Marvin and I are Downton Abbey Addicts. I guess my big complaint for this year is that i am sick and tired of the Mr Green story line. I do not want to see Anna or Mr Bates go to jail.

Diane, I knew this would be a show that would be best appreciated from the very beginning....so I will have to watch it on dvd. As I have never seen any of it and did not want to jump into the middle or near the end. That big book would be very nice to have. Hope you are having a great day. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

oh I am right in there like a dirty shirt, lol, I was so upset when Anna was raped I stopped watching but I came back! I for one love the turn society is taking, the rich are starting to have a taste of the real life, I was shocked when drugs came on the seen last night, I am now fearful they are trying to point the finger at Anna, still not sure about that story line, did Bates kill him????

I sure miss Vee's discussions too. Why don't you start one, as others have suggested? You know there are many of us who would join in...

I agree Diane...Vee did a fabulous job, didn't she? But I agree with her...YOU could do it!
I actually haven't noticed the darkness you mentioned...maybe it's yout TV...lol! The book you shared looks awesome. Have a great week!

Yep, we're all ready for a discussion, Diane, and since you're the one who mentioned it first...LOL

I don't like this season nearly as much as the others, especially Mary's foolish idea that she could determine what a marriage would be like from a one night stand at a hotel. Foolish woman. Also, I'm totally weary of the Anna-Bates storyline. Blech.

Hi Diane, this is my favorite show and I just love it. I love the fashion of the women, the house, and anything British! Lol! It would be fun if you started a discussion about Downton. I feel like it is so fast moving sometimes and I tape it and would to go over the scenes again but I don't have the time. Have a wonderful day sweet friend.
Hugs, Julie

I've watched DA from the beginning and 1) Bates again....why not that other guy who's medicating himself 2) I do think that Miss Bundy is over the top rude and should not be allowed back. She is sitting at their table, eating their food. If she doesn't like them or agree with their lifestyle than she shouldn't accept the invite. She's purposely insulting and wants to fight.
3) Now that Mary is breaking up with what's his face what do you bet she'll end up pregnant or is he going to blackmail her into marrying him? Discussion started! LOL!

Our family watches the show and we enjoy it! My daughter is the biggest fan. When we were in England last year we even visited Bampton in the Cotswolds where the village scenes are filmed. It was nice to see the village square, hospital, church and Crawley House in "real".
And I agree with many others here, why don't you start the discussion?

Oh Diane, I soooo look forward to Sunday evenings and watching my favorite DA! I worry about Edith and I'm shocked at Mary, and then what about Anna? I do love their clothes and the banter between Violet and Isobel.

My husband actually gets more excited than I do when the new season starts. I guess an old dog can learn new tricks. We're buying the DVDs so we can enjoy it over and over. It's so easy to miss some of the little things that go on.

Hi Diane! Oh, I'm watching and love this show. There's lots of twists and turns this season. I have noticed the lighting is off. Wonder why they've done that? The one thing I don't like is now that I've moved to NY the show comes on an hour later! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

What a lovely book! I was delighted my small local library even had several downton books- I'll have to look for this one- just love the show- My latest post is about my visit to a downtown costume exhibit and some ideas for a downtown tea if you are interested :)

I'm hoping to go to Highclare sometime this year and see the true Downton Abbey. As for Lady Mary, I got a shock when I realised the actress was born and raised in the same area as me. How come she isn't speaking with a more common London accent??!! :-) Did you notice how quickly they dealt with the death of Isis the dog!! I'm now watching the new series of Mr Selfridge, another great drama, so this is helping me deal with the withdrawal. xx

Hello Diane,
Last night on the preview for the next episode, we heard Rose ask about Atticus. Well, Atticus is my 12 year old's name, so we got excited about his name in the show. :-))

Mary is kind of bothering me. I was not happy with what she decided to do. And that Ms. Bunting!! She is something!

Hi Diane! Loving the discussion here. I have a theory - I think Lord Gillingham killed Mr Green and now that Mary has broken up with him, he will start stalking her/try to hurt her. That would make an exciting storyline, I think. Mary did tell him to get rid of Mr Green right before Mr Green was murdered.... What do you think?

I always wait and watch the whole season in one fell swoop! It's available on DVD this week, so after I watch it all next weekend, I'll be back in the loop! ;-)

My husband and I just love the show. It's our little treat. I so enjoy getting into the period and costumes. I never want the seasons to end. It will come much too fast!

My husband and I watch it too - thanks for leading the group! lol

I do not like Ms. Bunting she is just rude.

I don't like that Lady Mary had an affair and then is leaving him.

I want Edith to get her little girl!

Love the show. sandie

I only watch this on DVD so I'm a season behind. Last season is still not out yet on DVD, but my husband is keeping a watch out for it. He would never watch it, but knows I like it! Reading a few of these comments, I know I will hate the Mr Green part already. It took forever for Bates to cleared of Mrs Bates' murder, and now to suspect him of killing Mr Green?! ugh! Looks like you already have quite a response here Diane! Well done! I'll pop back next Monday for the continuing discussion ;)

I have the same book and like the information on the show in it.
Yes, a weekly discussion would be fun. As for me, I'm interested in seeing where Violet is headed this season.

I love Downton Abbey! I love the 1910 era the best...I'm not very fond of the 20's. I love the downstairs cast the best. They seem more real to me. The upstairs people are so snobbish. LOL! But I do love Maggie Smith...

I love that show. My only question is what is wrong with the butler/footman. At first I thought he was some heroin addict, but now it appears he is sick....HUM..With what? I guess we will have to stay tuned!

Can you believe I have never watched this show {probably because we don't have tv}. I have heard so many wonderful things about it. I agree with Linda, maybe you should start an online discussion :) Hugs to you, sweet friend!
