Downton Abbey ‘Décor’!

I’ve been enjoying the comments and speculation on what will happen next as we watch Season 5 of Downton Abbey. It’s been so good…so far!!!

I thought I would share my Downton inspired décor, thanks to a friend. (I made the pillows behind these)

My friend from Olive Out gave me these pillows!

I admired them when I saw them in person at her shop and I ‘may’ have mentioned it a few times in passing. She sent them to me as a gift last year!!!

The link is HERE to the post I did about her shop at Ridge Spring Antiques.

Aren’t they perfect on my red sofa?

Have you been inspired by the fashions and décor on the show?

Yes, they look beautiful! Sometimes, I really enjoy the decor or styles a lot. I do not like Mary's new hairdo at all, though. There I go again!

I see you have some pretty full bookcases in the background and a piano. Love the pillows. Can't say I've been inspired by the decor of Downton Abbey, but I sure love the show...even hubby enjoys it!

I love Downton! my sis and law and I tease about having Downton Dinners where we use the good china and we light candles! I am going to hate to see this series coming to an end. I have heard that Season six will be the last season but I am wondering if season five will be the end as Julian Fellowes seems to be tying up a lot of the loose ends.

My dream is to win the lottery and buy a Scottish castle, in the middle of the castle overlooking the lawns would be a circular library, floor to ceiling dark shelves full of books, with a circular table in the middle full of the room where I could write and research. This has been a dream of mine since I saw an old children's film many many years ago. It will happen... I hope... one day!! :-)

Diane,
I love, love your red sofa, bookshelves brimming with good reads, and your pillows!! Perfection and a great Dowton look. I have been a hit and miss fan of the series,
We were Boardwalk Empire followers- such a let down when these characters leave our lives.
Warm hugs dear friend,
Jemma

The pillows are "show stoppers". I love the red fabric and it does remind me of the Downton Living room. I have watched the show from the beginning and LOVE it. Proud of Edith but worry what will happen when her father discovers the truth about Marigold. Do you think Mary's attitude is becoming more hateful?

Love the pillows - they do add a certain something to the room. Love everything about Downton, actually, including the small army of people they have to maintain that style :-)

Love the show but don't know if I would be so inspired to change my country decor because of it. I do like your pillows though and find them a sweet gift from your friend. Yes, they go perfectly on your couch. I have seen several fabric catalogs that I get in the mail are advertizing DA fabrics. It seems to be the trend now. I love that show too, got the 4th season from my youngest daughter for Christmas and now hoping Santa brings me season 5 when Christmas rolls around again. Hope you have a great week.

The pillows do look "Downtonish" and also look good on your sofa. It sounds like you're enjoying "the season."

Those pillows look very nice on your sofa. I am not influenced to decorate by the show but I can appreciate the era and all that went with it. I do love cabbage roses though!
I was surprised that the blonde lady's maid...I forget her name...the married one...anyway that she went to telling the head lady downstairs about seeing Edith at the train and the baby. She didn't seem like a gossip before. It's getting to be a little like a soap opera which I've never cared for those. Saturday nights I usually watch Father Brown and Murder in Paradise which I enjoy but they're all reruns here and they've taken Doc Martin off the air although there is a special tonight with Martin Clunes (Doc Martin) and dogs which I plan on watching.

I'm probably the only woman I know who hasn't seen Downtown Abbey. What a shame, it sounds like such a good program.

I love your décor..so enchanting and romantic.

Oh how pretty - love the decor but never saw the show. The pillows really stand out on that gorgeous sofa. My decor is inspired mostly by the ocean, since we live on the coast.

That room looks so 'warm' and inviting, Diane! I do love the pillows, perfect on your red sofa. My favorite dress of all on Downton Abbey so far is Edith's green one that she wore to the club? with Michael Gregson. That was a stunning dress!

In response to Vee, I DO like Mary's new haircut, but her attitude stinks! She's getting haughtier and more selfish by the minute. And to think that she was my favorite character until now. I have shifted my loyalties to Lord Grantham.

I love the pillows! I also love Downton Abbey, I do not want it to end !

I do love the decor of Downton Abbey. Your pillows on your red sofa (so rich looking) do look Edwardian! I agree that Mary is getting to be quite snooty, and even mean. Not attractive at all.

I love the blue frock coat that Mary wears in the first season of DA. Would love to find/make one for myself.

I have yet to watch Downton Abby and I am British born.

I'm confused, are you watching Season 5 on TV? I just bought Season 5 on DVD. Is it only airing now in the US? ... would you like to know what happens?! heh heh ;)
Your cushions are very Downtonesque ... love the tassels.

Have I been INSPIRED! I've been pretending I have a ladies maid and a butler to begin with and it just gets worse from there. The pillow go beautifully with your couch. Diane, I need a doctor! I bought another doll today!! HELP!!

I find this season good too Diane and your pillows against the red sofa look awesome.
I like Mary's new hairstyle but not her increasing snootiness.

We have a very worn out love seat in the kitchen that the fabric looks very close to that.
I love Mary's new hair cut and they need to give Edith a better story line. she is a writer and her boyfriend was killed by Hitler's men come on! And she owns the publishing company now.
it is not all about the baby.

Love the new pillows against your gorgeous red sofa. Have I been inspired by the series?!? You know I have, mostly by the silver, copper, and crystal. I'm also quite keen on the idea of having breakfast served in bed on a regular basis. :)

Have you watched Mr. Selfridge? I'm wondering if the series is any good?

Oh how pretty...just my colors and style! I have always loved Victorian prints and decor. When I am watching Downton, I spend much of the time gazing at the background and all of the lovely things! Yes, it is getting good but it seems to be going too fast, don't you think? Have a lovely rest of the week :)
