Getting Close!

My little Canon S 100 doesn’t take the best close ups when I zoom in.

But I didn’t zoom in on this little guy!

dragonfly2IMG_3617

I walked right up to him and looked him straight in the eye! lol

Who knew a dragonfly would pose for so long?

We were starting a hike at Halpata Tastanaki Preserve when I spotted him. Aren’t the details of his wings incredible?

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE.

Happy Weekend!

What intricate, lacey wings! I've only seen dragonflies in passing as they zoom by. What terrific pictures! Thanks for sharing them with us.

Great shot - I love how they hold on with the front part of their body and the rest hangs off, but perfectly straight. I always think they look like fairies with their pretty wings.

Right away I can see why people were smart to copy insects (and birds) when they built the first airplanes! Perfect balance and symmetry! Lovely, and very interesting shots!

I love dragonflies. When I was doing Interior Design, I always put a dragonfly somewhere in a room kind of like my trademark. I also have a lot of dragonfly jewelry. Just love them.

Diane, you must be ninja cause you had to get really close to this little fellow and you still manage not to scare him away.
No seriously he must have sensed that you weren't an enemy and didn't mean any harm to him. These photos are really beautiful.
Hugs,
Arlette

Hi,
I love dragonfly's! Every time we go canoeing I seem to have one tag along with me in the canoe.
They are my favorite insect. :-)
