I made myself ‘Vintage’!

We visited Dudley Farm Historic State Park near Gainesville, Florida and I was dressed all wrong with my shorts and tee shirt. I laughed and said I would ‘photo shop’ myself in later.

So that’s exactly what I did. I came home and put a prairie dress over my top and shorts by using an overlay in picmonkey and then put an antique frame around the photo in photoscape. (just for FUN!!!)

Betsy from My Salvaged Treasures defines vintage this way, vin-tage (adj.) 1.) used to describe something that is not new but that is valued because of its good condition, attractive design, etc.

So I’m going to consider myself vintage in this post! lol

Of course I was drawn to the beautiful quilts in this old home.

Most of the furniture and furnishings are original to this house.

IMG_4334

All of the beds were the ones used by this big family of 14.

Old quilts are such treasures, aren’t they?

And they are vintage, too!

I’m joining the Vintage Inspiration Link party HERE,

This is such an interesting collection of quilts. Aren't you glad you don't have to wear a long dress every day? It's always interesting to step back in time though.

I like learning history that way. You are cute in your vintage dress ... Using the definition that you give, I guess I would qualify as vintage. Even without the costume. Of course the part about value might depend on who you ask ;)).

Diane, You make me smile..you crazy girl...I loved that photo chop shot. Those quilts are true treasure...made from old clothes mostly because way back in the olden days people could not afford to just go buy material . I love to look at the sewing and the patterns. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

I love the way you live life to the fullest. Quilts are really beautiful . I have been really busy with my 19 month grandson, Junebugs gym play, next week Little Sprouts art and gardening fun. I have him 3 days a weeks. Pretty tired at the end of the day. I have him from 8 till 5. He is so busy. I will be posting some of the things I have been working on this week. Hugs.

And I loved all the photographs you took - it must have been wonderful to walk around a home that was once occupied by a sweet family and imagine all the happiness and sorrow they must have experienced within those walls..
The quilts are so beautiful as well - what treasures!

Hi Diane,
You do both look real vintage 'gals' now.
The old homestead is kept just as it was.
If only walls could talk, can you imagine what we would be told.
The vintage quilts are true vintage.. originals. very beautiful.

I visited Dudley Farm two years ago, as part of a tour during the Heritage Rose Foundation conference that was held in Lakeland. It was raining and chilly that November day, but it didn't matter ... Dudley Farm is a wonder! The house and outbuildings, the furniture, and the GARDEN!!! I was in heaven.

Speaking of Lakeland ... have you ever visited the rose gardens at Florida Southern College? They are spectacular!
