Lake Griffin State Park for Good fences

What might you see if you hike some of the trails at Lake Griffin State Park?

IMG_0078

Dead River feeds into the lake and it’s beautiful!

But what brings many people to this park is this ancient Live Oak Tree.

Follow the nature trail to see the 2nd largest Live Oak tree in the State of Florida, estimated to be 300 – 500 years old according to the Florida Parks website HERE

It is GIGANTIC!

It really is hard to get a photo to really show what you are seeing!

Hubby stood in front of it. He’s 6 ft tall and slender but he looks like a little kid standing there.

I look tiny! hahaha!

What a wonderful place to spend the day!

I’m joining Tex for the

Good Fences party!

I am smiling and thinking I should visit Florida. Here it has rained for over a week with another week of rain for us. We are wondering where the sun went. My brother has live oaks on his place in Texas, near Austin. What wonderful, iconic tress they are. Have a great week.

What a gorgeous old tree! Amazing to think it was there during the Revolutionary War, and maybe even during Columbus's time!

Wow! How huge! You are tiny! Glad to see that you are out and about once more. I thought of you doing such a number on yourself when I opened the car door on my face...have been swollen and bruised for a week. I have no idea how I managed that!

Have a super day, Diane!

That's an impressive tree. It reminds me of the 1000 (yes, one thousand) year old oaks in Ivenack, Germany. Those trees are just fabulous.

OH- Isn't that just a gorgeous old tree?
Diane, have you ever gone to the Crystal River area and taken a canoe (you can rent them) down the river? It is a fantastic journey and the river is slow and not very deep in many places. I think it is the Crystal River park? Could be wrong. xo Diana

Hi Diane,
I am catching up on my blog reading and glad to see you are back out and about on your adventures!
Thank you for stopping by my blog, too. Blogger didn't deliver it to my email so I'm tardy on responding. I don't know if you have been to the Oregon coast or not but it really is very different from what you have. We take out winter coats along, even in August, because you never know what you will get. Beautiful to look at, for sure!
