The Backroads of America “Russell Stover’s”

We took a drive to visit 2 Florida State Parks we had never been to before.

IMG_0133

Imagine our surprise when the road between the 2 Parks had a Russell Stover’s Candy Factory!

We had heard about it years ago but then forgot about it.

So we pulled in to enjoy the air conditioning and the wonderful smells of deep dark chocolate!

There was a big section just for sugar free candy. I don’t eat sugar at all and I limit artificial sweeteners but who can resist THIS?!!!

IMG_0144

I was in candy heaven.

I even found a little Honey Bear, Brownie to come home with me.

So what’s in the bag?

And a few days ago, I went to my favorite thrift store. (my first trip out on my own after getting hurt and staying inside for over a week. I got my hair cut and went to the thrift store. lol)

IMG_0363

I was hoping to find a ‘new’ tea cup but found a Bambi coffee mug instead. It’s ‘made in Japan’ and has the prettiest blue inside. I fell in love with it!

It’s so nice to feel so much better and get out in the real world again. You’ll always see something interesting traveling the backroads of Florida!

I’m joining the Vintage Inspiration Link party HERE,

and Roses of Inspiration.

We passed a candy factory on our trip through Missouri this past weekend, but didn't stop. I remember seeing the Russell Stover's places in the past along highways. Too tempting!

So glad you are feeling better! I didn't know you didn't eat sugar...how do you do that? I'm not a candy person but I do like a cookie or some pie and ice cream is my true downfall.
Glad to see you "thrifting"...I always love your treasures!

Russell Stover reminds me of my uncle who had a drugstore...and always sold Russell Stover there

When I was young I'd stay with them for a week every summer and dust all of the shelves in the store and make about 10.00 : )

Diane, sorry you were hurt and glad you're feeling better. I don't eat much sugar, but when I do it's real sugar. I just make everything with less sugar and then eat a small portion.

Diane, I had to search back a ways to find out what happened to you. I'm sorry I missed the post when it was fresh. Oh dear, poor you!! Not a nice thing to happen to you, but I'm so glad that you are healing up nicely and are now able to get out and about. The older we get, the harder we fall :( I'm so glad the kind lady helped you out, and that your husband was kept calm too. So nice that your kids and grandkids made Mother's Day very special for you too. It seems the candy heaven found you at just the right time. You picked up some good things (chocolate!!!) and that little bear is a cutie ;)
Take care of yourself my friend, and good for you for tossing the flip flops!

Great cup and what a fun factory to visit. xo Diana

Does the bear smell like chocolate. I loved going to Hershey Pa. The whole town smelled like chocolate.

I'm so glad you got out - and what a darling Bambi cup. I love love love Russell Stover candies - I wonder how then get them from Florida to way out west without them melting. When we lived in Kansas City we'd go shopping at christmas and always managed a stop at the Russell Stover Store.

My goodness me...who would've thought there could be so much sugar free candy. I have never seen such a thing. What a pretty part of the world in which you live. The Honey Bear that went home to live with you is very sweet. Love your Bambi mug; it brings back memories of my childhood. 'Tis lovely to have happened upon your lovely blog.
