The Half Moon

We’ll see a full moon soon and thanks to my new camera, I will have lots of moon shots to share.

IMG_1870

But first, how about this half moon?

We have three of these windows in our house and I love looking up to see the beautiful white fluffy clouds. (jars are filled with seashells)

Hubby has been sweet to go out in the evenings and take moon photos.

Sewing Challenge continues!

We are having fun this summer with a sewing challenge.

dollsIMG_5483

JoAnn from Scene through my Eyes sent me fabric and patterns for doll clothes. We are taking turns choosing the fabric and then creating outfits for our dolls.

(My original post is HERE, we both have Madame Alexander 18 inch dolls)

Holly is ready to go to the park with her puppy and book bag.

I made the little ruffled bag for her book. JoAnn made the cute sandals. The pattern I used for the sundress is a free pattern HERE. It was quick and easy. Thanks Blissful Sewing!

The Muscovy Duck in Florida

We had a fun sighting last Sunday. We drove over to the mall to buy some new towels and bath mats. After walking through the mall to stretch out legs, we sat in the car to have a little snack. That’s when we saw a large bird fly from the side of the building. And then another one flew by. So we walked over there to see if they had a nest. (camera in hand)

eggsIMG_5463

And there they were! We counted 16 large eggs and there were probably even more in their fluffy nest.

But what was funny was coming home to check my blog and see when I had done a post HERE…the Muscovy ducks at the mall in this very same spot 4 years ago, almost to the day!

DSCN4859[6]

At that time, a baby had fallen over the wall and my sweet hubby rescued it and put it back in the nest.

Did Mama duck say ‘thank you’?

DSCN4865[3]

Not exactly!!!

We hope they survive. They were in a ‘hot spot’. I hope we get a chance to drive back over there and check on our babies!

More on the Muscovy duck HERE.

Out in the country!

We saw this house out in the country, here in Florida.

houseIMG_1316

(I was careful to ‘zoom out’ to get a fence in the shot, Tex!)

Not exactly a typical design for Florida.

In fact, I’m not at all sure what the design is.

Do you know?

Summer Fun “Board Games”

I’ve always loved playing board games. I was young when I had my four boys and I played games with them. (I even learned to play basketball when they got older! lol)

IMG_0775

So I was happy to find this ‘old’ board game at the thrift store.

“Park and Shop”

IMG_0778

I was just a teensy bit disappointed when I got home and found out it was a reproduction.

IMG_0779

But that meant it was nice and clean (and the components were still in sealed packages).

IMG_0780

Do you need money to play?

IMG_0772

Maybe we can start saving in this old money bank.

IMG_0774

I had a puppy dog bank when I was little.

Did you have a piggy bank, too?

When you can’t go outside and play!

It’s HOT!

IMG_1632

Too hot to go outside and play.

IMG_1464

So I thought I would share some of Wendy’s ideas for summer time FUN!

IMG_1468

How about some ‘junk food’?

IMG_1488

Now you know what’s been going on this week!

IMG_1500

But don’t think I didn’t have help!

IMG_1462

Hubby plays with dolls too!

IMG_1514

Hahahaha!

Wendy says she is innocent!

IMG_1644

NO dolls OR bears were harmed in the making of this post!!!

Be Quick!

This little guy was in our back yard and it was fun to get a photo of him.

But you had to be quick!

He was gone like a flash! lol

What a place!

Isn’t this an amazing horse farm?

fencesculptureIMG_1097

(they call them horse farms here in Florida instead of ranches)

And don’t you love the sculpture in front of the stables! (I zoomed)

fencesculptureIMG_1099

YAY! I wrote this in Live Writer!

Beautiful Roses

I call these my 'shabby chic' roses.

They are from a little spindly rose bush on the hot West side of my house.

But they produce the most beautiful pink roses with the most wonderful fragrance.

I usually keep the buds on the little bar above my kitchen sink. But today I took them to my dresser to take some pretty photos.

The little book is a very old Bible that I found in a torn down house years ago.

And since we are enjoying the beautiful roses, let's sprinkle a little pixie dust to spread some joy.

I would like to dedicate this post to my sweet blog buddy, Donna at Cottage Days and Journeys.

To my beautiful friend, Donna.

The Elements of a Photo

Sometimes when you are driving the 'backroads of America' you don't have time to pull over and take lots of photos of something you find interesting.

In this case, there was a house behind this old garage that was occupied. So it felt a little funny to be hanging out the window taking photos.

But isn't it a neat old rock and brick garage?

The dates say 1919 and 1933.

I decided to take the best photo (above) and crop it a few times to look at the details.

Don't you love the old washtubs filled with pink flowers and the old windows?

Sometimes we miss the elements of a photo at first glance.
