Gulf Coast Canals

A lot of people live right on the canals with access to the Gulf of Mexico.

I’ve often thought how nice that would be to live there and have a boat big enough to navigate these canals.

This is a pretty gate in the community we were driving through.

Would you like to live right on the water?

I’m joining Tex for the

Good Fences party.

Diane, Oh who would want to be that spoil ?? LOL..me !! I love the water...to hear it , see it, and even the smell of it at times. I remember sitting in the outdoor church at church camp....it was on a lake, so we could hear motor boats and people laughing while skiing...it made me wish I could do that one day. I love that church in the woods. Actually that is where my sister and I learned to swim. We were 10 and 11 and learned in one day...that is how badly we wanted to swim. Thank you for this memory. Blessings dear friend, xoxo,Susie

The house we rent is on a canal Diane and occasionally we see interesting things swimming by. Supposedly manatees have been spotted but we didn't see any. It's fun to wave to the boaters driving by.

God morning, Diane! I would LOVE to live by the water :) When I lived in Canada we were right next to Lake Huron - it was so wonderful!

Have a beautiful day, my friend. Hugs!

I would love to live on the water. I'm about four blocks from the Delaware River, but I would like to be closer. It must cost a small fortune to live there, though.

Where we stay in Gulf Shores there is a Lagoon on one side and the gulf on the other...it is just lovely!! But as for driving a boat...I can barely drive a car so I will leave that to the pros.:)

I grew up on a farm west of Denver that had a large lake and three smaller ones. I loved wandering through the weeds and grasses and wildflowers chasing butterflies and looking for turtles and frogs, but I loved swimming the most. I guess that' why we have our little water gardens here just to be a little closer to nature. I would imagine that the canals would provide great adventures with lots of cool nature to explore. Very pretty there. Oh, I am enjoying your Pins this morning.

I loved those canals when we lived in Florida, but never really wanted to live on the water because of the hurricane threat. Andrew hit right after we moved to South Florida. Always beautiful to see and admire though.

I loved living on our lake in the Pacific Northwest. There's just something so calming about water for me; it must be the Navy brat inside:-D

I'd love to live on the water. But waterfront real estate is awfully pricey around here, so we content ourselves with walks along the beach and boating trips. I'm glad that we live close to the water. The canals would be fun to explore.

I have always lived near the water but never right on it but yes, I would love to!

Wow, what a gate! I like to swim, etc., but prefer a dry climate so no houseboat living for me! Ha, ha...

I love being near the water but not to live there because of flooding risk. I do love those homes and the gates were very nice!
Have a great weekend!

We love the water...but not to live on. Too many bugs and snakes around water....and I'm a sissy baby.

Hello Diane, I do not have an urge to live that close to the water. I do love the gate with the pretty dolphins! Great fence post, enjoy your day!

What fun - lovely views for sure. I'd love to have a boat too.

Hi Diane,
I bet it must be really nice but I don't feel like living on the water since I have witnessed the damaged caused by flooding.
Take good care of yourself,
Arlette

That is a super cool gate. Love it. - I can't swim so I don't think I'd like living that close to so much water. Also I don't like "fishy" smells either but I do enjoy visiting the ocean.

Wouldn't that be so wonderful? I've always wanted to live in a houseboat, like the one in 'Sleepless in Seattle'. We can always dream, can't we? Love the porpoise gate! xo Karen

That is a wonderful gate! Not sure how I would feel living there...

I love the dolphins on the fence. I just visited another fence party post!

Yes it would be lovely to live on a canal. If we ever move to FL to be near our daughter in Ponte Vedra Beach, I would love an old cottage on the international coastal waterway. Dream on!

We live on the edge of a lake so that's good enough!

I love driving through the neighborhoods of Naples, and the canals there too! It would be great to live like that!

the dolphin gate is fascinating . . I've never seen one like it.

I'd prefer to live in a forest . . . a pine or redwood forest with a bit of mountain beneath the foundation and a safe place for my puppies to sniff the air . . .

Thank you for sharing a different vision.

Beautiful. Now that I am living in the mountains I have to say for the first time in my life I love living inland. I love the mountains for many reasons, of course weather being one of those reasons.

Happy EEKEND

It would be fun to visit there and take a boat ride through the canal to the gulf. I prefer a rural landscape or a cottage near the ocean though. :) We're in for a really hot weekend here with high humidity. Off to St. Andrews by the Sea tomorrow. No boating though. :)

Always thought it would be fun to live in a house boat on the water. I'm not so sure how it would all go over when it storms though. That could be a bit scary.
Have a good weekend.

Oh, I would love it! Hopefully I'll have a boat and sail into the sunset whenever.
It's good to be back to blogging. I had a horrid flu that wouldn't go away. In August.
