300 Birds?

Florida is a great place to live if you enjoy bird watching.

Bald Eagle

I’ve seen 3 eagles, 3 osprey and about 300 other birds this week!

There’s a small pond near the library and I drive by it every few days when I run errands.

It has had a huge flock of Great Egrets this week and just as many American Coots.

Of course, what’s fun is seeing the unusual birds tucked in among the common birds.

Egrets have been here on their way South Diane. It is fun to watch the different birds migrating at this time of the year. I saw some geese flying in a V formation the other day and they were just honking away!

Wow, look at all the birds! The Great Egrets are so pretty and graceful. I've never got the Bald Eagle yet except for at the zoo. He's so grand, isn't he? Way to go, Diane.

Have a good week.

Love all the bird photos, Diane! I have a particular fondness for the American bald eagle. We have several of them along the rivers here in Wisconsin, and when our grandson stayed with us, he went from being very excited to seeing one - to it all being very ho hum after he had seen several over the week's time. Kids! LOL Beautiful photos!

Hi my friend - Taking a minute to check in on some blogs. My blogging is so erratic anymore (hope I don't lose my followers). The huge floaters are still in my right eye, but I'm learning to adjust. You posted a wonderful series of photos! Love those Egrets!

I'm so envious of all the birds in your area. The photos are amazing, and seeing a flock of egrets is stunning. Washington state likes to claim it is an environmentally friendly state - but on the west coast of Washington we have very few birds, in comparison to just where you live - not even including the whole of Florida. Building on bird habitat has driven a lot of the birds away. We have to travel 20 to 50 miles to see any amount of birds, which is sad. I'm used to Northern California where there was a bird sanctuary right in the middle of town and we could see dozens of kinds of birds, different ones each time we'd visit. I'd love to visit Florida and spend days just going to see the birds that are all around. Enjoy - you are very lucky my friend.

Can't have too many Eagle pictures. That is a wonderful pond. Looking forward to next month when hopefully we can start to do some Florida birding! ( though it'll probably take a month to get the house in order first)))

What an amazing variety of birds you've seen. The egrets and herons are such interesting looking birds. I hope you enjoy watching the bird life there throughout the next months. I assume that some of them winter there.

Beautiful photos, Diane. I do remember all the birds I saw in FL. We were far enough South that we had wild parrots living in a tree in our back yard. xoDiana
