Black-Crowned Night-Heron

Hiking at the Blue Run Park in Dunnellon was a real treat with our son and his family. And how wonderful to see an elusive bird for the very first time.

Leave it to our grandson to spot this Black-Crowned Night-Heron in the marsh along the trail.

Our destination was the bridge over the Withlacoochee River.

But we always keep a sharp eye out for 'critters' along the way.

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE
and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

And yes, I'll have more critters for next week from this hike!

What a great shot of a beautiful bird! And what a lovely area for a hike. Looks nice and warm there. We got teased with 70 degree weather last week, but is now cooler -- low 50s, which is not bad, but not as good as 70! Hope you're having a good weekend! xo Deborah

Diane,
Wow, this Heron picture is great! And it's impressive that you know the true names of the birds.

I just wanted to tell you that Kim has her new blog, Imagery by Kimberly. It's on my side bar, and she still shares pictures of her home and the lake and the sweet dogs and different things. You should pop in and say hello.

love, ~Sheri
