Hiking the HTP for Good Fences

Halpata Tastanaki Preserve is our favorite hiking destination. It's very close to our house and teeming with wildlife.

And part of the hike takes you on a grassy road with a fence on one side, with cattle grazing in the field.

I don't have wildlife or even cows to show today but I have Dock Weed.

It's a tall slender plant with a pretty color of red on top and it grows all over the sides of the road, along fences and in fields. I'm not sure it shows up as good against the white sand but I took a close up just in case.

We had a lovely hike (#23) and enjoyed getting out in the 'wilderness'. Even the weeds were beautiful!

Are you familiar with Dock Weed? Have you seen it growing in your part of the country or world?

I'm joining Tex for Good Fences!

Very nice pictures! Looks so pleasant. No dock weed here that I know of. Pretty color.

Not familiar with dock weed, but definitely enjoy the beautiful colors of nature. The bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush along our highways could probably be classified as weeds.

a lovely place to go for a hike. I grew up with dock in Tennessee. I am not sure it is the same thing shown here...what we had was like the first few pictures here.

Diane, The hike you took was a nice one. I liked seeing the weed growing like that. I have never heard of it before though. You are teaching me things. :):):) Love it. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
p.s. I thought of you this morning...on the today show they showed a film about someone hiking in Naples, Fl. running into a Florida panther. Yikes.

No, I have not seen dock weed and if I have I don't remember. It's pretty with that spot of color. Nice fence too! You have the greatest places to hike.

Don't know about dock week. I always love weeds with color like that. The strange thing about weeds is they do not know they are weeds, they just grow and stretch up to the sun.

I've never heard of dock week before. It looks interesting. This is such a peaceful trail that you share with us often.

Hi Diane! Oh, how pretty this place is. Now I saw on the TV this morning a wild cat was caught on someone's camera as they crossed a walking bridge! The wild cat ran right past the person! Lord, have mercy! I would have had a heart attack right then and there. You had better take your shotgun with you next time to take a walk!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

What a pleasant walk you had. The Dock Weed is very colorful. I don't think I've ever seen it around this area.

Since we have most every weed around, I am sure Texas probably has this weed.

I am familiar with Dock....from a number of years in Deland, Florida!! My Aunt used to live in Beverly Hills, so we wandered all over your part of the state as well!
Thank you for the lovely pictures and happy memories,
