Lavender Fields

Sometimes when you are driving to a destination, you see something quite unexpected.

On our drive to Rainbow Springs, we looked out our windows and saw fields covered in lavender.

It is a wildflower and I have no idea what it is.

But it was breathtaking!

Wildflowers are planted all along the highways here, so I'm sure I'll roll the window down again soon for flower photos...oh I mean Good Fences.

I'm joining Tex for the

Are there wildflowers blooming where you live this week?

*Happy St. Patrick's Day*

That would be such a pretty sight Diane. It is snowing here today so, No, there are no wildflowers blooming at all! :) You'll be among the first to know when they do though but it will be a few weeks yet. Happy St. Patrick's Day to you. Enjoy! Hugs, Pam

Such a pretty shade of lavendar. - Reminded me once of being on a trip with my mom where we both saw this field of purple flowers but didn't want to say anything to the other one because we didn't want them to think we were seeing things. On the way back we both managed to actually say we'd seen the purple fields. - Oh yes, you did have fences here as well. They were nice but not as pretty as your lovely flowers.

Beautiful beautiful photos - and can almost smell them. One thing you would enjoy here is the number of lavender farms - there are many many of them - here and on the islands - and lots of festivals. We've driven by some of the farms on sunny, warm days and the fragrance is amazing. Have a great end to your week dear friend. I might even surprise you and see you on Wednesday(oops - there goes the surprise).

It would be interesting to know what the flowers are. Are the Texas blue bells in bloom yet? I've always wanted to see a field of Texas blue bells.

Diane, it looks like a lovely carpet! Wouldn't it be wonderful to stop and have a picnic there? Thank you for sharing with us.

Yes, lots of wildflowers here.

We have some type of yellow daisy growing profusely on many of the beaches. The lupine should be opening soon near the state beach and pink rock roses are abundant. Of course, my rock roses aren't blooming at all!

Beautiful -- I love wildflowers and it is so cool that you found fields full of them in your special color!! Had your kids visited you in Florida before? They must have been so impressed with all they saw.
