Black-Crowned Night-Heron

I wasn't quite sure what this bird was when I saw it at Blue Run Park in Dunnellon, FL. It was in the same area that we saw the Black-Crowned Night-Heron that I posted HERE.

But it didn't have a black head.

So we think it's a juvenile.

From the back, it looked like a gray goose! lol

Here he is in the swamp.

I'm glad I was able to get down the trail and get a better look at him. And don't you DARE laugh at his 'hair'! Just be glad I couldn't take a pic of MY hair! lol It was windy!

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE
and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

You're right in your guess, it is a juvenile black-crowned night heron. I love these birds - they are among my favorites. I'm always happy when I see them at "my" lake. Great photos!

great images of your young heron. Love the look of the swamp. :)

You're right of course - it's a juvenile which needs ther protection of that camouflage plumage to lie in the nest safe from predators. Keep the faith and your owl will come too.

What a gorgeous bird and I love his "hair"!

Such a pretty bird - and his hair is simply divine. I think wind ruffled hair is often the best hairstyle - then you don't have to worry about fixing it up. Happy week ahead my friend.

He looks like he's in style with the hairdo for the young men! LOL! Don't fall in that swamp!
