Favorite Things!

Any idea what some of my 'favorite things' are?

BOOKS! Oh how I love BOOKS!!!

And I found some treasures at the Library Book Sale last week.

I'm always thrilled to find an old school book or reader. It takes me back to happy times. And I've always wanted a copy of Hitty and was surprised to find one finally!

Of course a leather bound copy of Shakespeare is precious too.

And remember this quote from Little Women, "Some books are so familiar that reading them is like being home again." Louisa May Alcott  I found a beautiful old copy of Little Women to treasure.

I’m joining Beautiful Sunday.

I love all the ones you mentioned except Shakespeare...I had to study it in HS and never liked it....nor the Greek tragedies. But you did find a beautiful volume. I've never heard of Hitty before. Skyrider looks good and who doesn't love Little Women and Nancy Drew. I hope you had a great Mother's Day weekend!

Fun to find these treasures. My hubby has kept all books from his mother and when he was a kid, so they are a joy to see.

Diane, you have some beautiful old books in your collection. I have kept some of my husband's and my childhood books too. Do you remember the TV show Dr. Kildare? I have a book that was my sister's from that show! I hope you are enjoying a beautiful day there and have a great week ahead. It's cold here. How I long for a steady stretch of sun and heat like you have there. Hugs. Pam

Books...aww yes....books. One of my favorites as well and books have been and are always are such a huge part of my life. True treasures. I was a reader from a very young age and continue on today. Books are treasures and some of them you just cant part with-- they become part of you. For that reason i have way way way too many! Always seem to find room for " just a few more" as i love buying old favorites like you as well as spending lots of time with library books. A home without books is an inconceivable concept to me. Glad you found some new treasures for your collection! I would love to find the original hardbacks of the the "betsy-tacy books" by maud hart lovelace. Beautiful sweet little books set around the turn of the century in deep valley minnesota i think.they follow little betsys life adventures from a little girl through college. It was a different world for sure!! Have you read any of them?

Hitty! I had an old copy once upon a time and it disappeared. Old books are like old friends - you want to treasure them. Great finds!

You find such good books. My favorite here, Shakespeare, of course. Kids are just missing out on the joy of not just a good book, but nice books, pretty books, interesting books.

Diane, I love books too. :):) I have been trying to sort thru many of them. I will be giving all my art books to my two youngest granddaughters, Savannah and Emma. They both love art. I like looking at old school books too. I wish I had kept every book of my daughters . Blessings, xoxo, Susie

I admire that you read so much, Diane. And I love Little Women myself. There is a Little Women Christmas show (an old one), and I can't seem to find it anywhere. So wish I could, as it's a favorite. This old book that you found of Little Women is such a treasure.

Back to add a little more about Hitty ... I remember reading this book when I was little ... Mom had a lot of old books on her shelf. Your post really made me want to read it again. Amazon has a reprint, but I feel like that might be cheating. I think you should pose some of your "little ones" with this book (studying history!).

Did want you to know that the burrowing owls we saw in Cape Coral are different from other owls in that they are out in the daytime ... That makes it a lot easier to find them. We're a little too old to go looking around for birds after dark ;)!
