Summer time Hiking at Halpata Tastanaki Preserve!

These are photos from over a week ago. It's hard to believe it's gotten too hot to hike already.

But when the cactus blooms at Halpata Tastanaki Preserve, you can be sure it's HOT!

They sure have beautiful blooms though.

And I managed to get a few next to the fence to join Tex today!

I'm not sure what this plant is but the flowers look like crepe paper.

They are so unusual!

I'm joining Tex for Good Fences!

I did not even know cacti bloom until I visited our son in Texas. Now I have some around a lot. Great photos.

Heat sounds good. It is warming up here, now, but with more rain on the way tomorrow. The prairie will be in full bloom with cactus this year, too. You had a nice walk.

Hi Diane! Oh, I'm so sorry it's gotten so hot so soon. But I know it is in Texas too! We still are turning on our heat at night! :) Lovely blooms to see on your walk. Now that you have the time you'll have to keep on making doll clothes! ;)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Hi Diane, looks like such a great place to hike. Lovely bloom photo and views. We are heating up now too. It could stay like this year round and I'd love it. Wishing you a special Mother's Day. Hugs and Blessings sweet friend.

You find the most unusual things on your hikes. Fences AND a blooming cactus plus the mystery plant? Sorry it's getting hot so soon. Maybe you'll have a respite as it is a bit early. Take care!

Beautiful -- I do love the different sub-tropical flowers we have here, even tho I miss the more typical spring flowers of 'elsewhere'. Thanks for identifying pickerel weed in your comment on FT-L. I appreciate the help!!
