Aahhhh….FALL! Tis the Season!

Well, for us it’s the season we’ve looked forward to so that we can get OUT! It’s been a long hot summer here in Florida and we have plans to get OUTside…walk on the beach, hike up a mountain, spend time with family…and in general have some FUN!

petuniasDSCN2518

I’ve decided to take a blog break so that I can really enjoy it all. I’ll pop in and visit when I can but I’m not going to schedule posts if I can’t visit all of you.

sunsetnarrowcropIMG_2554

And I won’t forget you while I’m outside playing! I’m going to look for something special that I think you would like and have a giveaway when I get back on my computer. Now…what would you like? Maybe I’ll go to a Fall Festival and buy something handmade. That’s always my favorite giveaway gift!

flowernarrowcropIMG_2536

I’m wishing you a beautiful Fall season! I am thankful for each and every one of you. Email me if you have something you want to share. I’ll still be ‘online’…just not as much!

Thanks Wendy for telling me how to make little banners!

I’ll miss you all! Red rose

Don’t forget to have some FUN along the way!

Northern Shoveler

Another amazing sighting at the Library Pond.

duckscropIMG_2765

(could you all turn back around now?)

I drove by the first time and saw a LONG line of ducks! But I just had my little Nikon P300 with me at the time.

ducksDSCN0623

Nikon pic

So after lunch I went back with my Canon hoping they would still be there!

They were BUT they had divided into 2 ‘groups’!

d2IMG_2781

So I took photos, trying to zoom in to see what they were.

dIMG_2773

There may be another type of duck mixed in with these.

dIMG_2775

But they appear to be mostly Northern Shoveler.

And I saw the bluish green wing patch in a few.

d2IMG_2782

Then just as I was getting back in my car, they started to get back together.

d2IMG_2783

Passing on the left! lol

d2IMG_2785

Back in line!

d2IMG_2786

No stragglers please!

d2IMG_2788

Hurry UP!!!

Halloween Party!

I took part in a fun Halloween linky party ’Handmade Halloween’ that Bernie at Needle and Foot Blog had a week or so ago.

I showed off some of the cute Halloween costumes that I’ve made for my dolls.

opalhfrDSCN0014_thumb[1]

Shared a little crochet outfit that a neighbor made…

GraceCloseIMG_7581_thumb[1]

and even included this little Raggedy Ann doll that I created. (doll and costume)

hallogirlIMG_8704_thumb[1]

Bernie had some wonderful giveaways and I was happy to win a cute Halloween bunting that she made.

I put it on my baker’s rack.

DSCN2581

Not quite ready for Fall but I can add more things in the days to come.

DSCN2582

Thanks Bernie for the FUN party and the sweet gift!

The card Bernie included in her package is on the left and the crochet Fall leaf I made is on the right.

Julie wrote a post about the crochet leaf HERE entitled, ‘Being Inspired by Friends’. Thanks Julie!

We love Horses and GOOD Fences!

This is a spot we like to pull over to look at the horses grazing.

hIMG_2268

You can tell by the ruts in the grass that we aren’t the only ones that stop here.

fIMG_2277

A beautiful horse farm not far from our house!

farmIMG_2275

Hope you can get out and take a drive too.

hIMG_2269

You just never know what you’ll see.

New Favorite Things!

I am so excited to share this first one with you! Arlene from Nanaland showed her Himalayan Salt Lamp HERE and I decided to order one. I’ve wanted one for years and they are finally more affordable! YAY!

DSCN2316

And I really love it! I like the nice glow it gives off and it will be even better in the winter months when it gets dark so early.

DSCN2318

I placed it on my glass table in the dining area that is between my kitchen and the lanai. We have the most problem with dust in this area. So I purposely did NOT dust for a week! And it worked! There was hardly any dust where I had been dusting every day!

I ordered mine from A*ma *zon and they have lots of info and benefits in the listings.

DSCN2343

We also order our coffee online now. It’s exciting to get these big bags of coffee beans. (we mix ours to make it half caf)

DSCN2347

And now we have a smaller coffee bean grinder and it’s quicker and easier to use. YAY!

DSCN2344

Well, that’s all the excitement I can bear to share today!

food

Come by for a cup of fresh brewed coffee and we’ll sit at the kitchen table and stare into the salt lamp!

Hey you…get out of there!

Doodle Bug Doodle Bug your house is on fire!

We used to say that little rhyme when I was a girl. We would take a pine needle or tiny stick and go around and around in the doodle bug home and the doodle bug would eventually come to the top. I don’t think we picked it up then though…maybe the boys did! lol

antlionDSCN0604

So it was interesting to ‘google search’ this strange insect that we found clinging to the garage screen door (we have screen doors that slide to the side of our garage so that you can leave the garage door open during the day and let the air in, or your car cool off) and find out

it was an Antlion.

And the larva stage is commonly known as a

‘doodle bug’

antlion_2559

It’s always fun to see something different and learn something new!

antlionIMG_2560

I found lots of info on the Antlion HERE. Doodle bug link HERE.

antlionIMG_2556

And doesn’t it look just like something scary up close? Do you think it’s trying to look like a pit bull dog or some fierce animal?

antlionDSCN2500

"Doodle Bug, Doodle Bug, fly away home.

Your house is on fire and your kids are all gone."

Have you ever seen an Antlion (or a doodle bug)?

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE.

We had a very windy and rainy day yesterday but our weather forecast looks much better now. Thank you all so much for your prayers. I’m still praying for all those being affected by Hurricane Matthew today. Take care and stay safe!

Get Outside! Just not TODAY!

I had written this post and had it scheduled so I’m going to let it run! Of course we won’t be getting outside today. I just hope Hurricane Matthew doesn’t do any damage here and we keep our power.

We’ve done everything we can think of to be ready so I’ll hopefully be online today and tomorrow. If not, I’ll update you when I can. For everyone effected by this storm, Stay Safe! You are in my prayers.

Now to the regularly scheduled program…

I love to stay home but sometimes you just have to get OUT!

And here in Florida, you can be sure of seeing something neat every time you drive down the road.

littleblueheronIMG_1802

This Little Blue Heron was near our house one day and I pulled my car over and got a photo.

Then when I got to the library, I saw what looked like a small piece of rubber (like something off a bicycle tire) on the sidewalk.

frogDSCN2357

It was the cutest little tree frog.

fDSCN2352

He was so dark that he looked shiny and very tiny…maybe 2 or 3 inches long.

fDSCN2355

‘Ribbett’

I get the biggest kick out of seeing something out of the ordinary! Don’t you?

Horse Farms in Florida

I know I show these a lot but we love to drive around and see the horses in our area.

horseIMG_2217

And the horse farms are all so well maintained and beautiful.

hIMG_2218

Do you like the big dogs at this entrance?

dogsIMG_2313

Stay tuned! You never know!

I might have more photos for next week!
